Anyone had dealings with CheapFaresNow.com

I recently searched for a flight from Brisbane to London using Skyscanner. After looking at a number of options and seeing that the prices were on the way up, I was able to find what I thought was a reasonable priced ticket in $AUD on CheapFaresNow.com (at least that's what the Itinerary quoted after payment). I was looking through my Online Banking account and noticed that not only was the amount higher than what was quoted on the itinerary, I was also slugged with an International Fee. I have looked through the website for any reference as to what currency payment would be charged, but I have come up a blank. To make matters worse, I have now seen the same flight with the same airline (Etihad) for cheaper in $AUD. I have e-mailed CheapFaresNow and despite their promise that they would respond in 24 hours, I have not received a single response. Any thoughts on how to force them to refund the difference between what I was quoted and what I was charged, as well as the International Fee? Had I known any of this, I would have either paid with PayPal or looked elsewhere for an Australian company.

Any helpful comments / suggestions would be appreciated.

  • So could it be the quoted price was in USD, not AUD?

    • When I read the itinerary, the fare was quoted as $951.14 (incl. $110.20 taxes/fees). My bank charged me $984.77 and the International Fee was $14.77. Big scheme of things, not a great deal extra, but if you're going to charge me in US$ then tell me that before I proceed with the transaction. Same flight on Fly365.com is $889.

      • Fly365.com have some really good prices, especially Etihad.

So did a dummy booking of a flight for $1,572.58 AUD

See the last line right above the Book button.

I understand that this fare is shown in AUD, but will be charged in USD in the amount of USD $1,166.03 USD. If my credit card is not in this currency my purchase may be subject to additional fees from my credit card issuing bank. *By clicking "Book" I agree to the total trip cost of $1,166.03 USD and the Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy.

I'm not going to do a dummy booking, how prominent is this message? Cos I certainly don't recall seeing it. Not sure if you're able to take a screen grab.

        It's quite prominent.

Not sure if you're able to take a screen grab.

LOL. I'm not your travel agent. It takes 2 seconds to do a dummy booking.

        • Was only asking as you'd already tried this. Sorry

Look, for future reference, just try to create a relationship with a well established travel agent. We do this and I research the best fares online and then I call or email our agent and ask them to match or possibly beat the fare. We have done this many times, and it's good to have a great agent behind you in case things go pear shape. Having that agent enabled us to have partial refunds on an expensive cruise and a tour in Italy that was a bit defective!!. Tip, find an OLDER agent as the younger ones change employment or are often off on trips to cover their bucket list when you most need them ….past experience!!.
