PayPal Refund?

I bought a length of hifi cable off a hifi store in Bangkok (online order through the stores website) but have since found out the store closed several months ago. The only indication (on their website) was a closing down sale notice but other than that everything looked alright and the order/transaction went thru PayPal as per normal.

I've emailed the stores email address about my order but no reply back from them and I'm not hopeful I'll get one.
I think I'm OK for a refund from Paypal (correct me here if I'm wrong?) but I don't want to wait 6 months to get it (the time the store has to send me the goods). Any views if I should I ask for a refund from PayPal as soon as possible or do I have to wait for 6 months before they will action it?

Thanks

You can try making a Paypal claim now and note that the shop has literally closed down. Worst thing that happens is that they tell you to wait 6 months - which is where you're at now. Usually though, if they have a few people all raising issues with the same store, Paypal's pretty fast.

    How much was it?

  • Well you can't dispute the payment with PayPal after 3 months, id go with a refund.

What did Paypal say when you asked them?

      To ask on OzBargain

  • Thanks for all your replies and good news - I got a refund today. Anyway lesson learnt - next time more research required before buying from potentially dodgy sites.
