Command hooks? Hanging pictures

Might sound silly im in a rental and i have these hooks on wall in various rooms.
I have no idea they maybe command ones which stick to wall.
I have never had any experience with these or how strong they are.
But if i put extra up i need to let agent know.
In the cinema room there are a few not sure if they are large or medium ones.
But in what i can read online the hold upto 2.2kg my puctures i believe are 5.50kg or there about.
There are two of these books where i can probably catch two of them but others are on there own.
What i dont want is them falling off wall damaging anything thats around it or even the pictures themselves as said i have not had experience with these before.
Previous rental we had no pictures up but we want to in this one make it more homely than looking at plain wall.
When i read about this they say people use these for bags, dressing gowns and like cable etc.
Why would they be all over house?
When i used to own my own property years back it used the use metal hooks with pins that went into wall but maybe they don't like that here in rental.
My biggest fear is if these are suitable or not.

  • 3M command hooks are pretty easy to identify. Just compare with some Google photos of them.

  • The command hooks work well but suggest you user additional hooks or get the higher weight ones.

Also, they can damage plastered walls if not removed carefully or after being in place for a long time. So take care being you're in a rental.

  • You can probably just put a little dab of double sided tape in each corner of the picture, but again, you're probably going to damage the paintwork when you take the tape off. Same with Command hooks

  • We do already have command hooks around the property but im not sure what size they sre small, medium or large but on looking them up they dont seem suitable for picture hanging or if so light pictures as whoever was in this property sure have plenty still up some no longer usable and some ok.
We hang a few pictures up on a few not knowing what weight they take not fallen off yet but im very worried they do,i suspect these maybe fall off more during summer when its hot?
I have at least 2 large pictures and a mirror weight of just over 5kg each.
Last thing i want is these falling off and damaging whats around it and item itself.
I believe they are not suitable for this weight of pictures thats already up.
I did see there is these command strips that can go upto 7kg plus.
But to be honest its hard to take in this can hold such weight and by just sticking them on.
Im used to using metal hooks when i owned but this would leave holes on walls.
Im reading mixed reviews that these strips can still damage walls or even stuff fall off walls and others saying they are great.
Having rented for 5 yrs with nothing on walls and having moved into another rental be nice to have items up more so when property has hooks etc all over.
I just dont get why they have these hooks up as they seem to be used for anything but pictures and where these are located its obvious they have been used for pictures but im thinking light weight stuff.

  • I'd ignore the existing hooks - who knows what weight rating they have or what condition they're in. Buy 3M removable adhesive hooks yourself with weight limits you're sure of, and use those.

    • But i have no experience of these command hooks on looking them up they seem to be for silly things other than pictures,i wondered why some pictures where akward to hang on them.
And even the large ones are rated low like 2.2kg my mirror and pics are more than 5kg.
I can only see too options that is use command strips or metal hooks that pin to wall something i have always used in my own property.
But now that im rental i have never known much about these command stuff.
I read reviews they are good or last for years i read they fail and items fall off wall.
Being that these items i wanted to hang are heavy it sure would do some damage.
Even looking at these command strips they look like they hold nothing up and im reading the rip the paint off the walls when they claim they dont when buying.

I contacted my agent and my options are use what's there which i know what's here are not suitable or let them know where and how many i want to use.
But if command strips damage wall im liable to repair it.
But i also dont feel comfortable even if allowed to install strips to hang off these as they could fall off any time.
Metal hooks double pinned ones is what i used in my own place and never had issues.
But then im leaving two pin holes in the walls where i install.
I have not asked agent but if owner agreed to say the metal hooks with pins am i liable to repaint whole wall due to a couple of pin holes from a hook?

We lol could possible have a few things uo on the walls but im not going to do that if im liable to paint all walls i installed them in.

  • I’ve had a good run with command strips

    https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/command-la…

They support 1.8kg and don’t damage the walls when they come off as long as you follow the instructions. You could use a hairdryer to soften the adhesive if you were paranoid about damage.

    • Im trying to zoom in at the picture and im sure i see 7.2kg but in the detail/info it says each set is 1.8kg?

So i asume you put on the strips you require to hold the weight of your item?
As said my pics are approx 5kg just over rough check snd same with mirror.
I would have thought something of this weight would be been bit risky.
Does the summer heat not affect these.

      • Each set is 1.8kg, but you can use more than one set for heavier items.

My pictures are less than 1kg though - not sure I’d be confident using anything other than a nail or screw + plug for that kind of weight depending on your wall.

Maybe ask your agent if you can go the heavy duty option first? As long as they agree you shouldn’t be required to repaint anything.
