Is It Worthwhile to Upgrading Internal Storage of Samsung Galaxy Tab A 7"

Hi I got a brand new Samsung Galaxy SM-285 Tab 7" 8G when I signed up with Amaysim energy, I quite like it but an internal storage of 8G is just too small. I am considering I can either sale this SM-285 and then buy another one or I upgrade internal storage. Is it easy to upgrade internal storage? If I am upgrade internal storage, what should I put in? Can I put a SSD? If I put a SSD, would it speed up the tablet a little? I put SM-285 on Gumtree for two days now and I got an offer of only $130.

  • Why not use a MicroSD card to increase storage? Instructions from Samsung here:

You can't upgrade the internal storage of Android tablets. The most you can do is insert an SD card, and then in storage settings look for an option: "Format as Internal".

This option may not exist in earlier versions of android.

    • You can maybe upgrade storage … provided you have a BGA rework station and very steady hands, a supply of NAND chips, possibly need a controller upgrade too, and then there's software support…

Yea it'd be much cheaper and easier to buy a new tablet.

Edit: actually, 8 GB of NAND might be TSOP, which is more doable than BGA. Still requires a lot of experience and very steady hands. It's been done but certainly not beginner work.

    • can i download apps on MircroSD card and use apps as well?
