Steam milk frothing machine

Is there any stand alone milk steam frothing machine?

I sometimes drink instant coffee and prefer milk frothed with steam wand that can produce micro bubbles, something like this.

But this is overkill if all I need is just the steam wand to froth milk.

I have the Breville frothier. It might be worth ringing the outlet place in smith st Fitzroy to find out the price on their seconds. I got one half price and it comes with a 12 month warranty.

Otherwise these work well but require heating the milk as a separate step.

  • Check out aldi. I purchased the machine years ago. They also sold the milk frother separately for like $20 if I remember correctly.

See if they still sell it.

  • Note, it's worth getting something that will make the milk noticeably warm. Things like the aldi make something that's basically still cold. The only use of their 'heating' is to burn milk to the bottom and make cleaning a drag.

    • Never had a problem with the aldi machine. Though my machine is a few years old and the new ones might be different.

My Aldi one makes the milk warm/hot. You sure yours is even plugged in?

This is the ultimate - not cheap though:

    • Wow.. nice, but I am after electric one..

    • Wow that's amazing, I want one

  • I bought a Kogan frother for about $20. It heats and froths. Pretty good.

Edit: tried to find it on their website. Alas, it is not showing up. It may have been discontinued. I'm not at home so can't check the brand name.

  • As you mentioned in the OP, baristas use steam-powered 'wands' to froth the milk. All tabletop offerings (to my knowledge) are merely a heated container with a spinning component. These 'froth' milk as if you just microwaved some, put it in a container and shook it up for a bit. I do recall seeing a stovetop option that involves filling a device with water, boiling it on the stove, and then using the attached steam wand in the same way that you would on a machine. Having said that, I have no idea what kind of pressure it generates, so it may be just as poor.

    • Correct, I am talking about steam powered wand machine. An electric standalone of this machine would be what I am looking for!

  • I use the Aldi "Expressi", can get them instore or ebay for around $29

  • At work, the 'Standalone Milk Frothing Machines' are commonly termed 'Baristas'.

But I WILL be using this adjective in the future!

  • Thanks guys, but what I meant is standalone steam frother wand that can produce microfoams, not the heated container with spinning 'stirrer' (which I already have).

Yes I am talking about the frother that baristas use.
