I wouldn't touch it because of the way they treat NBN customers. And the whole terrible customer service and all

    • You don't really need any customer service because you can do everything you need to via the app

      • +2

Really? Can you setup voicemail in the app?

        (Trick question)

        • +3

Their app is shocking and voicemail is simply not available. That said, their plans are much cheaper, coverage is good plus data banking is very useful. This offer is also available at JB HI FI

        • They don't offer voicemail. Can you ring up Optus or Telstra with their great customer service and get infinite data banking included with your plan?
          Try asking something sensible.

      • 7 days later and still waiting to be ported. Then told a story that their is a national outage affecting all carriers trying to port. I've googled and can't find any mention of this story.

    • +1

I had no problem with customer service for my mobile

    • +3

Have been with Belong for years and never had an issue with customer service. On the one occasion I complained of slower speeds they returned my call and did a reset which fixed the problem. If I had any issues I would simply ditch them and find another NBN provider.

We are using Kogan 365 day prepaid services for our mobiles as we picked up on some great offers around last Christmas. Eg. I have mine on a Medium 365 day prepaid plan which was a "2 for one offer." Equates to $12.50 a month, unlimited calls with 7 GB.

      • As an example worth NBN, moved to Sydney, never had NBN before. Friends and I in different suburbs decided to go with belong. Signed up on 50mb plan. Done nights the internet was so slow for both if us in different suburbs, that we could barely load web pages. Had name support calls, all told me it was not their end. They said it was due to peak hour, and that was the nbn. Believed them. Then my friend said he moved to TPG, and was now getting 46mbps at peak hour. I switched and am now getting 44mbps at peak when it's meant to be bad. Pure trash belong is.

        • That sounds like Belong was a bad deal for you all. We have "fibre all the way (FTTP to the premises)", an early contract, which is possibly reason we have had a good service? … perhaps it is a FTTN /FTTP issue. Installer at the time said we were very lucky as later contracts would receive FTTN.

My mother still waiting for NBN to happen. Have heard TPG are pretty good (and they offer $10 OzTalk unlimited Nat calls; which she wants) so has opted for TPG too.

(We didn't want any talk options ourselves).

        • +1

@JediJan: So just some background, we have FTTP, and TPG did nothing - they didn't come out or anything, it was a straight switch that took just a few hours. Having myself experiencing the issue, and a friend in a different suburb having FTTB with the same issue, and we switch and immediately notice the difference. I just don't trust them one bit. If you are getting full speed then that's great, if you are not you should try switching.

if you need a referral code
    get one here

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/deals/belong.com.au

    • How does the referral code work, where/when/how do you enter it?

  • Anyone know if you can change to $25 plan after the first month?

    • +1

Yes, you can change your plan each month if you want

      • I just activated a $40 starter 2 days ago, but $25 plan. So I still have $15.
I am too late to use any referral code.
How to change to $10 plan next month?

        Thanks

        • +1

download the app or login to their portal/website
you can change it from there.

        • Hmmmm after not being ported for 7 days I was told it was due to a national outage with "the porting company" affecting everyone, but it seems you weren't affected. Did they really think I wouldn't check on this story.

        • @ozbarney:

          Found this on Belong website:
Have you recently moved your mobile number to Belong?

There is an industry wide outage affecting the transfer of mobile numbers from other providers since the 25th July.
If you have requested a connection to Belong with your existing number, you may have problems receiving calls or text.
We’re sorry for the inconvenience and we appreciate your patience while the issue is being fixed.
Once the issue has been resolved, you will automatically receive a notification from us.

        • @iamtapu:
I have no problem in porting from Optus prepaid.

    • +3

Better to shift between the $40 and $10 plans as needed.

    • you dont even need join the $40 plan on the first month after buying the $40 kit.

you get asked what plan you want to join on signup.
extra unused credit is deducted the month/s after.

      • But that lump of data is good for many, whilst others might survive on 1GB.

        • +1

Yes if you use more than 1GB you'd be better off registering initially as the $40 plan and changing to $10 after, keeping the banked data for later

  • +3

If you are content with 1GB/mth data (it slows to 64kbs after 1GB allowance is exceeded) AND you use a referral code which gives you an extra $20 credit on top of the $40 credit on the SIM, you can sign up to the $10/mth plan and get 6 months of unlimited national calls and texts for $20 in total.

    • +2

Been living on the 64kbps past week after finishing my allowance. Not bad, able to listen to spotify, Twitter loads, watsapp and fb massenger fast, email loads within 30secs l. Overall not too bad for light use.

    • Basically the same as the $10 amaysim groupon deal but that didn't have any data access after the 1gb was exceeded

  • -1

officeworks also has $40 optus sims for $20 which is better IMO

    • How is it better? In what way? This is currently the best deal you can get and it has data banking. I used to be on an ancient Optus plan called "myrollover". It started with three month rollover, then two, until it finally got to one and I left.

      • +1

I prefer the $10 premium credit + the fact that it's prepaid over a postpaid plan, but it depends on what the individual needs I guess

        • Belong isn't really post paid, you can cancel any time and revoke the PayPal authorisation. The only thing true prepaid has over belong is that you can take a holiday from paying your bill if you don't need your phone for making calls / using data for a while.

        • @Quantumcat: On another subject … Belong "NBN" does give you an option of signing up for 12 months though, which saves you $10 a month. I was with them for almost 2 years before transferring to that option. I wouldn't recommend going post paid for anything for first time users; try before you buy is better, as some have had different experiences with Belong NBN than I (we have fibre all the way).

    no international roaming.

Even if you don't use roaming overseas, you will need it to receive text messages while you're away.

If you travel O/S stay away from Belong.

    Caveat emptor
Belong does NOT provide ANY support , except their Forums …you choose your pre digested question …
Or ask them something else …
    Take 36 to 72 hrs to get a "response"…
Most of the time an untelligible RESPONSE 🤔. sample :
The Belong Support team is looking into your request for you. We're sorry for any inconvenience and we will get back to you with a resolution shortly.
    The Belong team
    36 hrs later …Case CLOSED !!!

DO NOT PURCHASE …Would NOT even take a "freebie" …
    Sorry ….

    • +6

I have had problems resolve by Belong support twice now and not by the forum.

    • +5

They are a discount telco provider offering the Telstra network from $10pm and unlimited talk and text.
Plus you get unlimited data banking and gifting.

You can't expect a full service telco for that price, and I think its unreasonable to do so.

I have 2 services with Belong and I EXPECT non-existent customer service. I've never had to use customer service because I've never had an issue with them, but even if I did I'd be patient. Because at $10pm, somethings gotta give.

      • +1

I don't think they get priority service in congestion. It's not the same as being on Telstra.

        • +1

Well for starters they run on the telstra wholesale network. So you definetly will not be getting the same as being directly with telstra. But tbh it's been perfect for me around Sydney.

        • +1

@JungliChilli: I thought Optus and Vodafone were pretty good, until I went to telstra. Now I get full reception in my underground basement which I never got on Optus and Vodafone. That and when I'm standing at Central with a full station, I can get data with no issue. If it's the same on belong then that's pretty good!

    • Out of curiosity what was the problem?

      • Sorry 😐 JungliChilli
I purchased five (5) Belong SIM card on Special in Coles … and TRY to activate on my Belong number to have AN EXTRA , 28 / 30 days ….
They have NO contact numbethey have NO email
        NO live chat

ONLY their Support , whom take anything between 3 to 4 days to Respond …or DO NOT BOTHER to respond AT ALL !!!!

        • I don't think you can transfer credit from a starter pack to an active belong service.

What you'll need to do is port out and back to belong of you want to use one of the extra sim packs you bought. I thought most telcos follow this.

  • didnt they Change it So you Now Cant Bank as much data as you want ?

that being said you can transfer data to an existing Sim right ?

  • +1

Do these offer Data pooling for multiple sims? Considering a sim for my iPad and my Kogan 12mth for my phone is almost up

Anyone having an issue porting over to Belong with this deal?

    This what was posted on their support page as a pop-up window;

"There is an industry wide outage affecting the transfer of mobile numbers from other providers since the 25th July.
If you have requested a connection to Belong with your existing number, you may have problems receiving calls or text.
