Need Suggestions on Some Gaming Gear

I went back to pc gaming and realised that I'm still using that hp keyboard from like 2011 and a Logitech m238 btw is actually kind of bad. I would like some suggestions for a keyboard and mouse that are under $50 and no membrane keyboard please, they just feel horrible (probably from the 500 days of using a Mac)

    Corsair K70 (switch type is subjective)
    Mouse - again subjective depending on grip but Logitech have some hot ones out right now.

      TBH the corsair k70 at jbhifi is about 5/7 of how much I spent on my gaming pc but thanks for the help anyways. Does my username not suggest my budget?

        Perhaps you should allow your post to suggest your budget as opposed to your username?

  • I have the Velocifire TKL78 - https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Velocifire-Mechanical-Gaming-Key… and Gamdias Erebos - https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Gamdias-GMS7510-EREBOS-Extension… - really happy and managed to get the keyboard for $38 so it cost me $58 in total. For the price, I am very surprised how good the mouse is and the keyboard feels like Cherry MX switches.

    • Thanks may consider the mouse and don't really like mx brown so may try to find a similar model with blues instead

      • There is a cheaper Blue switch keyboard from this seller here for $37.58 with PENNY5 coupon code. You'll have to pay GST however because it's from Hong Kong.

        https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Generic-Z-77-87-Keys-Mechanical-…

        This is actually a rip-off of another more well known keyboard, the Mechanical Eagle Z77 which is very popular on Amazon. You can buy it from Aliexpress too, if you really want the real deal.

        The Velocifire TKL78 is an "ok" keyboard; I like it as it's very compact and easy to carry around, but the small right Shift key isn't a very good design and the height of the keyboard can cause some wrist strain if you're not using a wrist rest.

        I'd recommend Browns over Blues if you're only using the KB for gaming. Blues do indeed feel nicer to type out but it is Very loud.

    mechanical keyboard is uber, but gaming monitor is critical… how many hz is your display running at?

    • 60

        eww… pick up a second hand 120/144hz monitor from gumtree, tbat will make a FAAAR bigger difference than any other peripherals

          This is really bad advice. Why is a 120hz monitor critical to someone with a computer from around 2011 who is just getting back into gaming?

          60hz is fine for the average gamer. Shouldnt you reserve your 'eww' for 30fps console normies?? ;)

          It sucks way more to be mushing keys on an old keyboard. A smooth functioning keyboard and mouse will make a huge difference, hopefully at an ultracheap cost.

        • @R-Man: I was describing my keyboard not my pc. My pc has a i5 4590 and a gtx 1050 with 24gb

        • @ultracheapasianguy: alright nice, i assumed it was all older stuff. Still reckon new mouse and keyboard is money better spent than a monitor!

        • @R-Man: yeh the mouse and keyboard is proberly cheaper to upgrade than the monitor as a 144hz monitor cost exactly as much as much to build my pc

          @R-Man:

          He has really nice specs to drive a 144hz monitor that he can grab cheap off Gumtree, yet you want him to pony up top dosh for a gaming keyboard+mouse? Top kek.

        • @airal3rt:

          "Top dosh"? Nice bait, I'll take it:

          New gaming keyboard and mouse combo $70 (link). Might manage to meet his $50 budget if he looks 2nd hand.

          I said ultracheap didn't I?

          @R-Man: 30fps is more cinematic.

    Update: I settled for a Logitech g310 and a Logitech g402. Found a great deal on eBay for $50 for both with shipping.
