Grey Market Xiaomi; Is There a Way around GST?

Hi

I wish to buy a grey market phone or two. Both eBay and AliExpress are adding gst. Is there any sellers that don't or a way around it? Thank you

Isn't that technically tax evasion? You are technically asking how to evade tax.

Not at all. Only the stores themselves will get into trouble if they don't charge GST. It's not our responsibility to charge tax.

Customs won't hold the packages or any of that other crap people have made up.

    • Buy from a smaller seller/store who isn't complying with the AU rules.
    • Ship it to a non AU address and reship it (most likely cost more than the GST though).
    • Buy locally.

I believe bang good or gear best or one of those said that they'd absorb the gst into their base prices for the time being. So technically you're still paying gst, but their base prices have been reduced by 1/11th.
