Cannot Connect Aqara Smart Lock

Hey guys,

So I purchased an Aqara Smart Lock (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/product/xiaomi-aqara-smart-door…) and just recently, a corresponding v3 Xiaomi Gateway, and for the life of me, I cannot figure out how to connect it!

The gateway works, I have it connected to a Smart Switch (which I'm currently using as my doorbell) but the Smart Door Lock just won't connect!

I've tried connecting it by adding it as a child device; it tells me to press the reset button for 3 seconds which will reset the network, which I also tried but then I get a "Operation Failure".

I've also tried resetting the entire unit which also doesn't seem to work. Anyone have any ideas?!

    Try setting your region to China Mainland

    • Seems to fix most things!

    • Yeah I've done that — actually my account has always been China Mainland.

      I can see the option to select it, but it just doesn't connect.

  • Some things I would try if it were me:
    - Make sure the lock is super close to the gateway when pairing.
    - Just making sure you are pressing the reset button on the lock and not the gateway..?
    - Take batteries out of lock and put back in.
    - Make sure gateway has latest firmware
    - Pray?

      Tried moving it to the closest power point (approximately 1m away from the lock), no go.

      Yep, didn't know the Gateway had a reset button actually — been pressing the lock's reset button for 3 seconds to trigger the Network reset, which I've also tried the "Reset the Network" option with options 3 (System settings), 3 (Reset the network), # (Confirm), no go.

      Take batteries out of lock and put back in.
      Tried also, even tried new batteries, no go.

      Probably was a stupid mistake of mine, but I was quite excited when getting the Gateway that I didn't try the original version of the firmware first, but I just instantly updated to the latest version when I plugged it in and it told me there was an update, no go.

      By any chance, do you also have the Aqara Smart Lock? Does it connect for you?

      • Nope, don’t have the smart lock but I have a bunch of other Aqara stuff. Honestly I wouldn’t trust Xiaomi with my Home security :)
