Had it done in Sydney for $2800 all up. Fantastic Dr and really popular.

Dr Sebban at Sydney eye clinic.

  • Almost all doctors involved with laser eye surgery that I have seen wear glasses.

    • probably because their all 50+

It could be worse, some of them could be wearing eye patches.

…with a Parrot on their shoulder and a hook where their hand should be… lol

        • So, you also wouldn't recommend Dr Edward Scissorhands?

    • Where do you see them?

    • That's like the story about a town with two barbers - one has great hair, the other has a mess. Which one do you go to?

      .

      .

The one with messy hair because they're cutting each other's hair.

    I'll do it for you.

How important is seeing things to you?

  • Go to a surgeon who uses the Force.

Feel like cheapest is not the criteria you should be looking for when it comes to your eyes.

    • Thats what a lot of people claim and pay through the nose. The place I got mine done in Sydney has been doing it for over 20 years and wanted to make it affordable. The same procedure done elsewhere is 3x the price.

      • Not saying that you need to pay more than you need to but you should probably base your choice on the surgeons experience/reviews.

Yes what could go wrong with the cheapest laser eye surgery………

    • Well let me tell ya a story…mum had laser surgery on her 'good' eye a couple of months back and they stuffed it up. They ended up burning a hole in the back of her eye resulting is the worst pain she has ever experienced (for reference she has had crippling arthritis for 50 years, breast cancer and in the last few years has had both knees replaced (separately). She has spent the last 3 weeks in hospital and is starting to come good. The eye doctor has been proactive in dealing with the issue but IMO it should not have happened. Mum reckons there was a problem with the eye machine on the day.

Anyway, there are some things in life where the OzBargain spirit is probably best put to one side for the time being. :)

The words 'cheap' and any kind of surgery should never be used in the same sentence.

        Which was my point.

So sorry to hear about that. Hopefully she recovers fast.

What are the long lasting impacts from this stuff up? Vision issues?

Not too sure, she's still hospital and can apparantly read large headlines only, but she's 82 and wasn't the pillar of heath to begin with so weather all that effects her recovery chances I couldn't say. Time will tell I guess. (She's had glasses since she was a kid as well. )

          Cheers

@EightImmortals: Well best of luck then!

  • Also depends on if you want the latest generation of laser or not:
    1 - PRK
    2 - Lasik
    3 - SMILE

  • This is why many surgeons raise their prices to the sky- because there is an association in people's minds between higher price and higher quality- there is no correlation.
