Major Events Act & eBay

Hi,

Curious with the changes to the Major Events Act in Melbourne when it comes to tickets being re-sold and it now being illegal to resell at a value above 10%….does anyone know if this includes an Ebay auction where the starting price is listed at say 99c, and ends up being bid on from there?

Omg, they actually tried to outlaw scalping. Utter idiots.

Why so surprised..it's Victoria after all.

Just to elaborate - I don't like scalpers. But you literally can't prevent it without a tonne of unforeseen and undesirable consequences, not to mention practical issues of enforcement.

Not every problem can be solved with more and more laws. It's not money (or violence or alcohol) - throwing more of it at something doesn't eventually lead to a solution.

    Harry Potter doesnt like scalpers.

Odds are you'd be stuffed - as you're still selling the tickets above cost + 10%. Doesnt matter how you arrived at the price of sale, but the overall sale price.

Lols, might get a visit from Premier Drongo Dan's Scalping Tactical Response Unit!

(It's probably Special Patrol Group from the Young Ones, though by the looks of things down there he might be busy writing government policy. :) )
