    what's next ?

    curved toothbrush ?

    • that seems to already exist

    • Curved TV?

  • Pedant point - If it's not infra-red, it's not a heater.

Will the curve improve my experience? Is curve experience like the Samsung gimmick or more nuanced (wink wink).

    • +2

curved TVs narrow the viewing angle to personalise the the viewing experience - it must be the same with this heater, attempting to focus the heating angle since it's only a 400w heater this should save a lot of money in electricity bills over time (standard heater 2000w+). for comparison, electric blanket is 200w so i'd say the advertised heater looks like it packs a punch

      • Curved TVs narrow the viewing angle in an attempt to personalize the viewing experience.

It succeeds in making it a personal TV not because of the viewing angle but the alienation of others after attempting to defend the purchase decision.

this is your personal opinion about curved TVs. its easy for you to relate a curved tv to this curved heating panel maybe due to its looks but their function is entirely different. you can take your disapproval for curved TVs to the TV section. ta

        • @RainbowHands:
Did you buy a curved TV?

        • grow up, i know where this is going - have a good night

@RainbowHands: We have a TV section now?

        • @PJC: Looks like it's somewhere in the lost love department.

    • The curved panel is design to give a supplement heat where traditional heating is still being used, an inexpensive to operate, can easily be plugged into the main current and using the ON/Off switch.

    So what is it????

Assuming the lowest figure of 4.83m2 that isn't very much. It's not enough for the heat to reach my head from the floor (about 1.24 metres reach from the centre of a circle plus the 550mm height of the heater). If it were 6.67 Sq m as stated that would be just about enough (about a 1.46 metre reach from the centre of a circle plus the 550mm height of the heater). I'm not willing to risk $184.22 gambling on such figures.

    • Good Point @mysterytal
Infrared works watt per square meter. To work out the power that is needed to heat the whole area, we use a simple calculation WXL=x60

Far Infrared work on penetration object so by asking if a heater would heat floor to ceiling then by using our calculation it will tell you what size panel is needed.

To me, it sounds like this heater is useless on its own. if you just want to heat your legs an electric throw blanket would be a more economical option.

Interesting. Seems to warm objects rather than the air.

    • Yep - that is how ALL radiant heaters work.

PS: It's not interesting… that's how heaters have worked since cavemen discovered fire.

looks like this might be good as an under desk heater, maybe at office or at home. with 5 years warranty if it breaks, take it back to them for a new one - just keep the invoice on a .pdf

  • This one works like a heat lamp to dry up paint faster in a panel beater. Surface heating inside out

  • I got this one for $380 during an eBay sale. You can run it between 250 and 1200 Watts. It tilts and rotates, has a timer. I use it on very low with my heat pump (reverse AC). It’s good for doing your legs as this probably a weak point of AC. Seems to do the job at 250-400 watts. However I’m not convinced it’s not just a fancy name (and price) for a bog standard radiator, in which case it’s value is more like a third the price.
