What is people's opinion of this stuff, is it a decent substitute for real sugar?

    • +1

Not sure about the cookbook, but I love Natvia. It's definitely a bit different. I've been using it for years and prefer it to sugar now. It wasn't tough for me to transition. Definitely worth a try.

It is okay, better than others but still notably different to real sugar. You won't notice the difference in small amounts buts in sweet desserts it can be a little odd.

Love Natvia, pretty much use it in all my drinks

    • It’s pretty good, but you don’t want to be substituting the sugar in an overly sweet dish. You can make some pretty amazing sugar free cheesecakes with this stuff.

    • I can't speak for the sugar substitute itself, but their Nutella alternative, Nuttvia, is really nice, especially if you find regular Nutella a tad too sweet. I normally hate the taste of sugar substitutes like Stevia too.

What kind of sorcery makes dessert with no sugar? We all know we have desserts just for the sugar!

It all comes alive with the magic of diabetes.

      • And finishes with the amputation of a lower limb.

I used to use Natvia, but I found it too costly. But I do like their Stevia alternatives.

I don't mean to derail the deal here but if you are after sugar-free alternatives, take a look at https://www.naturallysweet.com.au/. I bulk order my stevia from here and it is a lot cheaper.

Edit: Thanks for this one OP, put my details down!

Much better off growing the stevia plant, failing this go for the unrefined stevia powder which is naturally green and full of nutrients.

Bought one of the plants from Bunnings for my mum.. waiting for winter to pass to get some leaves!

      • How do you use it with the real leaves?

        • Could always dry the leaves and grind them into a powder.

    • I think the leaves would be interesting for my Tisane "iced teas" for summer.

    This product makes you fat

    • Haha, nah it doesn't. I use it all the time

    • Eating too much makes you fat.

      • +1

Actually, there's plenty of science that says that isn't correct either.

        • Yeah but whenever I've brought that up here (even with solid references) I've absolutely been down modded into oblivion. Good luck.

There is also the fact that people's hunger isn't the same. It's easy not to overeat when you don't always feel like you're starving.

        • Say what? Link please, I'd like to eat a lot and not get fat

    • Darwin award winner, I see.
