Anyone Bought Honda CRV-Vti-LX Recently?

Hi Ozbargainers:

My partner and I are looking for VTI-LX at moment. We've been to a dealer and only quote sticker price of $47892 with standard 5 yr warranty. On the redbook recommanded $44290 car sales has demo for sale at bit more than $42K.

I am wondering what's drive-way price of your CRV VTI-LX. Any accessories? Just need it as a rough idea?

I know buying a new car is not a financial smart choice. However, we are expecting our second child. It's time to get SUV and she is very happy with CRV vti lx.

Thanks a lot

Can't you get one that is 1-2 years old?
What does having a second child have to do with buying a brand new car?

Will an SUV making having to lug around two children that much easier?
CRV in particular isn't really all that large anyway.

    • The lastest one is 1.5L engine with turbo. It provides better fuel economy compare to 2.4L.
There is no used same model on sale ATM.

My partner drives a small 2 door hatch back it will be a lot easier wit SUV to get children in and out.
We are not looking for a particular large car but CRV suits our needs the best.

      Thanks for your input.

      • Ok, that somewhat satisfies my curiosity.

Have you looked at something like a Jazz?
What are your thoughts around something like that?

Have you looked at something like a Jazz?

Sorry but buying a Jazz to put your family in is the WORST idea. With a family, you want a car with a bit of power and space in the boot and rear. The Jazz is too small to pack lots of groceries, prams, and all the rest of the junk kids need.

        • Jazz is still a small hatch just with 2 extra doors, with kids CRV or Accord.

    • Yeh but The person who posted it already has… the idea to buy the car in mind, mind you.

      Ta mate

  • You're paying over $40k for a car, so don't be too worried about fuel costs. Fuel economy is not really a problem with new cars these days unless you drive a V6 and up. Just get a Toyota Kluger and not have to deal with Honda's absurd servicing costs.

    • The older CRV in 2.4L is notoriously bad on fuel being AWD as well. My brother has one and I have a 16 kluger which probably gets about the same if not better fuel economy with a 3.5L V6.

      Then proceeds to recommend a V6 😂

      • Then proceeds to recommend a V6

        ooops….never knew.

There are a couple in the extended family and they come highly recommended. Servicing costs aren't that outrageous too.

  • Hey guys,

A suggestion You should buy a 2nd hand, but you might need to wait a couple of weeks. Perhaps a CRV but 2015 or 16 model?

Depreciation with new cars is a big thing as we mostly learnt in secondary school.
As soon as you drive out within one month the value goes down by 2000. You get more from a 2nd hand as they dont
    have technology spam IMO.

Interesting, so you have it down to an exact dollar figure, regardless of whether it's worth $12,990 or $1,299,000?

Cut the kid a little slack haha.

        • The world is a tough place 😉

  • We have found that lower cars are actually better for small kids (under 5) - they can get in and out by themselves.

Never understood the obsession with SUV too - it is as bad offroad as generic hatch/sedan, worse on road because of it's weight and aerodynamics and high center of gravity.

What's the point? For ~$45k you can get an excellent hatch, sedan or wagon with all bells and whistles.

  • Hey spackbace, with that I was refering to a value of 40000, ie. using a
percentage basis. Ie. 1/10 fraction or watever.

She's not even born yet and she's already deciding what car you should have?

Don’t pay sticker price. Ring around other dealers, get a cheaper quote and make a lower offer or when you go to the showroom see what colours are in stock and ask for one they don’t have. Tell them you really want a certain colour so will be checking out a few more dealers to see what they have. Before you leave say that you will take the non-preferred colour they have if they will do it at a reduced price.
