Waterpik Cordless Waterflosser $89.99 @ ALDI

180

These sold out pretty quick last time at Aldi. I bought one last year and still going strong. Only complaint would be the water reservoir is a little small. Would prefer it water lasted a little longer.

Thank you - I see it's been designed with travellers in mind, too - bonus.

Not sure if mentioned in brochure, it can also double as a bidet.

        • @tshow: A wash & wax all in one!

    • Cheers updated

  • These things are actually really effective and don't hurt. Much easier than floss, especially for your back teeth

i don't think they are a replacement for flossing.

      • +2

But are they a replacement for not flossing?

  • I was about to purchase this:
    https://www.amazon.com.au/Irrigator-Rechargeable-DentJet-Wat…

Rechargeable battery and cheaper. Any one have first hand experience with any of these?, is the water pressure actually good enough to floss with?

    • none of those 12 reviews are from first hand experience?

      • I asked about fist hand experience with ANY of these. Fairly clear I was after input from people that have tried the Aldi option, both or another competing brand.

Had the Aldi one for over a year. It gets used every day. Does a great job. You get that dentist clean feeling.
As I said in my comment above only con is the water tank could be bigger.
The non rechargeable batteries last for about 6 months so for me that's not an issue.

Just to confirm, Waterpik is not an Aldi brand.

        • @MahyarJ: correct waterpik is a standalone

        • @Regie69: Thanks Regie69. The batteries lasting so long is great to hear, I try travel with as few charging cables as possible and triple A's are easy to find everywhere.

        • @Regie69:

6 months? It takes 3x AAA batteries, I wouldn't have thought it would last more than a week if used a few minutes per day (about the same as an electric toothbrush ~2000mAh).

I've got a portable Panasonic one that was a popular deal on this site years back and I use it once a day. It takes 2x AA batteries (so about twice the energy in 3x AAA batteries) and if I'm lucky a set of eneloops/laddas last barely more than a week (2 mins use per day).

        • @Regie69: does the pressure get affected by battery level?
My OralB toothbrush does, and that annoys me.

        • @Averell: yeah when the batteries dies you can tell pretty much straight away

        • @Regie69: Hey Regie, given the tank size issue, would you pay the extra for the model up? (the Cordless Plus can be bought for $15 extra, plus I think the Aldi ones would have sold out).

As far as I can tell the main difference is a larger '45 sec' tank and an in-built battery (which I think is worse) and is the same otherwise.

(The Aldi one is the Cordless Express) - https://www.waterpik.com.au/oral-health/products/dental-wate…

      • As a guide roughly 50% of reviews on Amazon's "best selling" items are fake according to researchers.

        • Yep, Amazon bumps up items that have reviews from verified purchasers. The top companies selling stuff on there order stuff themselves or pay for overseas services to do so in order for them to put up verified purchases. Often they send the items to random US addresses (cheapest shipping options). Worth it for them to do so as being higher up the list makes a huge difference in sales.

It's highly annoying because the idea of reviews from verified purchasers is a good one.

if you don't actually need something that is portable, you can get mains powered ones with big reservoirs on aliexpress

      • Going to disagree on getting a mains powered units even if you don't need a portable one.

They are very messy to use, one little slip or if you open your mouth a tiny bit when it's on, everything around you gets sprayed with water coming from your mouth - for me it's much easier to get a portable one to use in the shower and not have to worry about spray painting the mirror and walls.

        • i never considered that. they do have quite a long hose on them. i've got a portable panasonic irrigator and someone else has mentioned, the tank is not big enough and i've got to periodically switch the AA batteries.

        • @mtg:

We probably have the same one?
          https://www.amazon.com.au/Panasonic-EW-DJ10-Portable-Operate…

Yeah the tank isn't big enough, I fill it up 4 times per use but if using it in the shower it's a non-issue - just open up the cap and fill. The batteries just last a week, but I always have a set of batteries fully charged and can just swap them in a minute. Again not really an issue for me.

I tried a mains unit one. For all the drawbacks the Panasonic portable one has, I can't stand to use a water flosser outside of the shower because of how easy it is to make a huge watery mess. That's a huge issue for me and something a lot of people complain about with water flossers.

Maybe if there was one that had a trigger to control the flow, so that it would be possible to open your mouth without water spraying over everything - I would consider an upgrade then.

        • @c0balt:

yeah, that's the one! from amazon US back in 2014 for about $30.

        • One that connects to shower head is what I got. No mess, no batteries and less than 20 off eBay.

      • I have been using mains powered for over a year, no issues…

    • Interested in this one too.

  • The Kogan version is currently $49 with free shipping. I'm not convinced that it is very different to this.

    • I had the Kogan one and it’s poor quality. Lasted only 6 months. Avoid this at all costs. Although not all Kogan products are poor. I have their Vitamix blender and after 4-5 years it’s still great.

I spent a bit more and got this Panasonic model for $90 on special at HN.

      https://www.harveynorman.com.au/panasonic-cordless-all-in-on…

Very good quality and 2 years going strong. Even bought one for my Father.

  • I believe this one https://www.chemistwarehouse.com.au/buy/69480/waterpik-water… is 99$ or even this one with portable version is 99$ at costco

  • Does anyone know if you have to replace the pick part every 6 months like recommended? I don't see why I can't soak it in antiseptic every 6 months instead.

    • I soak mine every few weeks. Haven't replaced it in 12 months

      • Ewwwww
