Desktop PC Recommendations for parents

Hi guys - my parents need a simple PC for home duties. No gaming / movie streaming / video editing.

Looking at ARC computers since they live nearby (Chatswood NSW) which would make it easier for future support. They have 'system to suit General Employee's needs and POS' which comes to $693 with a few options (SSD, 8g mem and case)

Intel CORE I3-7100 1151 Processor
Asus H110M-E 1151 mATX Motherboard
Crucial CT8G4DFD824A / CT8G4DFS824A 8GB DDR4 Desktop Memory
INTEL 545s SERIES SSD SSDSC2KW128G8X1 2.5" SATA 128GB, 550R/500W-MB/s, RETAIL BOX
on board video
CoolerMaster Elite Micro ATX RC344 MATX USB3 CASE W/420w PSU Silver/Blue
MICROSOFT KW9-00139 Windows 10 Home 64-Bit OEM includes DVD

Dont need display kb or mouse, and I have a spare hdd I will put in for extra storage.

Does this seem reasonable? Any other suggestions? Not interested in home built - convenience wins in this case.

Thanks

Get a NUC. Even smaller form factor and fewer ports.

If anything goes wrong, it's easy to unplug, send for service, and get back to replug. I'd print label the USB and display and stick to corresponding ports on the NUC. A goes to A, etc.

I use them in the office when considering mini ITX vs NUC vs AIO. The NUC when mounted to the rear vesa bracket of the monitor makes it essentially an AIO.

refurb dell optiplex 9010 with SSD =$200+

or just get a decent laptop for that price you're paying .. 700

does everything you need per desktop + portable + also can connect display/keyboard/mouse whenever you wish

    • does everything you need per desktop

Are you nuts? Desktop cpu wipes the floor with mobile cpus.

      • "my parents need a simple PC for home duties. No gaming / movie streaming / video editing."

  • I wouldn't pay $693 if your parents are not using it for gaming / movie streaming / video editing.
    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Dell-Optiplex-9020-SFF-i5-4570-Q…

This one should more than be enough for just normal home use, and it's also very light and easy to carry around.

  • I would get the Windows license online eg. https://www.scdkey.com and you would save about $100
The setup is fine, and most parts come with 3 years warranty and memory lifetime, but pretty sure it will run for 6 years or more

    • that's oem key bundle from shop

the shop won't reduce the price by 100 after taking out win10

  • Dell refurb. Subscribe to the stores on here and wait.

  • I don't understand why anyone would get a pc if they weren't a power user.
