        • the A1 works fine in melb metro with optus , so would be same with telstra,
it’s country area where coverage can be an issue as no band 28.

  • why this is more expensive than mi max 3?

    • The mi max series is simply a Redmi overblown. Infact, it's literally just the Redmi note 5 in a larger body and QC3.

      This is the proper flagship.

  • MDo you guys reckon this will be much of an upgrade from a Pixel1 XL?

    • If you need to ask that question, I would say no. While this is a good phone, currently, it requires a bit of effort from the user to use it properly outside China.

If you wait a month or so, the international version with the global rom should be out, and then, it'll be a perfectly fine upgrade to your Pixel.

Shocked to see someone comment on a thread they obviously know nothing about.

xiaomi aren’t low quality, actually very good quality if you are on with a phone designed for chinese market.

they just aren’t designed for australian market, their market is china, then india, then US and then europe …..australia doesn’t even appear on their list of markets and what is needed.

i’m over the xiaomi until they make one that has all of,our bands, nfc at a competitive price …..the last xiaomi i bought was the A1 for $240 (no band 28) before that we had the note 2 ( xiaomi didn’t deliver promised updates so went end of support) and then we had the note 4 which we replaced with the A1.

but now we seem to get better deals eg office works did the axon 7 for $299 clearance and $360 normal ….band 28, nfc, came with nougat and oreo is rolling out.

xiaomi were ok for cheap phones when 1080p market was slim, but most phones now are 1080p and lots have nfc and band 28 for under $400 ….

$500 is not cheap for a grey imported phone with little support for australian needs.

    • Shocked to see you even commenting lol

But I have had Xiaomi products in the past and I can promise you they were each poorly built and failed quickly. A couple of products even fell apart because the glue components holding them together was obviously poor.

"Products"? Phones, or the other stuff that they slap their name on?

    • "products" things I can't name because that would take too much imagination.

I've had a couple of Xiaomi phones and the build quality was excellent.

Be careful with this one guys. If you want to flash the global rom, you need to first unlock the bootloader (takes 15 days) then you cannot re-lock it or it will soft-brick (stuck in boot loop).

  • The price is currently $361.1USD ($500AUD).

    • Gst is applied at checkout for a total of $397.29 USD ($537 AUD)

  • I'm happy to flash the rom to global one and install google services. Once this is done, is it pretty much 1:1 with the global version? Am I missing anything or will it have any limitations I should know about?

it is not international version. it can not be used in Australia. the guide to flash to international version is just a joke. Not a deal at all. Not paying that much to get a phone that can only make phpne call and SMS.Google is blpcked from China and you will not install google play store on tje phone.

  • Anyone received theirs yet? :)

    • I haven't received mine, tracking says left the country but no more info

  • Would love to know if anyone received their phone ?

  • Same as above.. Shows as having left china, then nothing.. ordered 19 days ago..

  • I've now been told to wait until September 6 and if I don't receive with in that time then only contact them

  • +1

This is getting a bit ridiculous now.. ordered 25 days ago..

  • I ordered on 4th of Aug and have been told by the chat representative to wait until 6th Aug. Anyone received theirs at all ? Seems like a lot of people bought this but only a few of us are here trying to follow up.

    • not yet, ordered on the 4th as well.. living in sydney metro.

  • I've ordered phone covers from China a couple of weeks after and they've all come in except for this. Is this normal ?

  • +1

So has anyone messaged them yet..? Will do so tonight as they won't see it until tomorrow anyway..

Getting a bit fed up. Especially when I have to wait another 15 days to root it.

  • Mine arrive today, Friday.

    • Oh sweet.. about time.. Chinese rom?

      • yep chinese rom. seal with plastic wrap. amazingly fast and smooth.

        • How's your experience so far ? I've got refund for not getting this on time so they've told me to reject of I don't want to keep it or keep it and pay the money. I'm not sure if I should keep it, is it a hard work to get the global rom install ? And apparently Google Pay (nfc pay) won't work once it is rooted . Is it true ?

        • @OZB fan: after you install global rom root your phone using magisk. youtube is your friend :) you can use android pay playing pokemon go hacking 7/11 location for cheaper fuel etc.

        • @vl3tbol:is that eu room or global rom ? How do I install global rom without unlocking bootloader ?

        • @vl3tbol: could you tell us about it a little more please?

      • You got yours ?
