HTC Legend Vodafone Deal ($29 for 12 Months), 3 Months Free, 10% off - Discussion

I did a search and didn't find too much regarding the feedback from the users of this OzBargain deal. Just hoping that maybe we could use this forum in order to keep each other informed throughout the contract about the status and issues.

I've already had to call up numerous times in order to simply confirm 3 months free and 10% off and they usually come back stating it's confirmed in their 'notes' but I'm still skeptical…

I got my first bill for $46.30 which I was told it covers the 2nd month too. I questioned as to why I didn't get the first 3 months free and they came back stating it would apply on the 3rd on onwards. What stumps me is that my bill doesn't reflect the 10% off? meaning it's $23.15 per month.

Any inputs from your situation?

Thanks

My friend showed me her statement, and after about 30mins of working out the EXTREMELY complicated billing system, it did actually work out to be correct.
I think what confused us was the GST and the fact that they charge you by the day.

  • I've only just got the phones today!
Ordered 17 Dec, received 15 Feb!
    Hold ups were:
    1) they never contacted me to clear my Credit check, I eventually called them when the online tracker had laid dormant on "Credit Check in Process" for 2 weeks
    2) after submitting all details requested for the Credit check, the online tracker remained dormant on "Credit Check in Process", just with an updated date for another 2 weeks.
I called again, and they asked for a payslip, I'd never been asked for a payslip. I know because I'd had the request emailed to me!
    3) after sumbitting the payslip the account progressed to "In Process" for another 2 weeks after which I called yet again.
This time I was told the floods were delaying things and the phones should be shipped within the next week.
I even got an unprompted email confirming this.
    4) 2 weeks later on Monday 14th I called to ask what was going on and was asked what phone colour I wanted.
I once again was not contacted by them..
and today the phones finally arrived!
    5) I'm now on hold, about to clock up the 4th person who is supposed to be able to help me, because I got a data pack on one of my 2 phones ordered and there's no identification to tell me which has the data pack assigned and which doesn't!

[sarcasm]Superb start to my relationship with Vodafone… [/sarcasm]
    No wonder they're losing customers!

Still.. I have 2 nice handsets at "bargain" prices…

    • UPDATE: Apparently neither account has a data pack, despite the fact I have an email confirming the data pack, along with the 3 months free and 10% off…

Oh and OP - Last time I checked $23.15/month is significantly less than 10% off $30/month…even adding GST still makes it only $25.465 which is still less than the 10%…

    • Sounds like mayhem. I've heard plenty of Vodafone's poor service before I signed up to this deal but as good of a deal it was, the service definitely almost makes it not worthwhile at times.

  • After some careful study of the confusing bill; turns out it was charged based on the $26.10 per month but I was billed for only a partial months usage.

    • Ahh.. Makes sense…

  • I got another weird bill. A negative charge this time :|

    • Look with voda if the bill is wrong contact them back, as long as its not in your favour (chuckle)

Found the first bills a little strange, then it got sorted out on the third. Now on my 3 months free (plus got 4 months credit for their poor network). Also my iphone4 32Gb was supposed to be an extra $10 a month and that's never been charged. So far the 2Yr plan and phone will be around $800 which is $150+ less than the phone outright. And its now unlocked.

But ring them up. just confirm and make note of staff and time, that you are on the NRMA/RAC Deal. Even if you do this a couple of times. Just be be sure. I even asked one if they needed my membership number, then they came back and said no, and quoted the number back to me. Then i relaxed.

  • I got my "third" bill today (first bill was first two months together). The third bill was 26.09. I'm assuming free months don't start til later.

  • Very strange; might have to call them up to clarify but looks as if I've been credited $2.40 for this bill and it states on the bill to not pay anything which I am confused about. Not sure if this is my free month or something? Still doesn't explain the credit back.
