iPhone 7 Plus Camera Issue

Hi all,

After using phone for 18 months, my iphone 7 plus with the back camera showing black only, went to Apple and after checking, they decided to replace the camera for free because my phone still under warranty.

The outcome not as expected as i have read that people here getting replacement phone with different issues.

The question is did anyone have same issue and Apple give replacement phone so i can go back and ask for replacement phone?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thank you all in advance.

    another great thread

  • If you're expecting Apple to replace your components with new/working hardware, then.. : (

    • I think OP can expect it to be repaired with working hardware, right? Not new, but that's not what OP is entitled to anyway.

Apple stopped doing whole phone replacements for most issues a number of years ago. The only way to get this now is to have apple care+ or have a phone that is fully broken.

I'm guessing you were trying to use this refurb loophole to get yourself a shiny new looking phone without a scratched screen? Unfortunately you're out of luck.

    • Depends on the representative. I went in a couple of months ago and got my Phone replaced because of an AirDrop issue.

      • Airdrop issue would be the radio or other soldered hardware, so probably just as easy to replace whole phone than trying to replace the motherboard for the phone.

  • they decided to replace the camera for free

The supplier is providing a remedy for a faulty item in accordance to the legislation. The is no reason for them to replace the item when a replacement part is available. It would be a nice thing for them to do, but not necessary in this instance.
