Emirates Changed Flights. Connecting Flights Don't Match

Hey guys

In bit a pickle

Initial booking was SIN to BNE departing at around 3pm.
Emirates changed this to 10am

I had booked a flight from Malaysia to Singapore at 10.35 and arrive at 11.45 so we could enjoy the lounge for a few hours

What can I do here? I called Qantas as i booked through them and told them and their only option was to move me to a 8pm flight (non emirates) which only has 2 seats left.

I dont want to fly qantas and want to experience Emirates. I also do not want to spend hours and hours at the airport.

Should Emirates/ qantas cover my cost of the flight i made from malaysia to singapore ( was around 250 dollars) ? That booking was made with singapore airlines.

Its not the same. Its a different league on its own. If you have never flown emirates you dont know. Qantas vs Emirates

Depends on the plane and class. New A330 Qantas cabins are good both economy and business. Emirates 777 economy is awful.

      • Have to agree with OP, Qantas flights from London to Dubai was awful. Luckily I got an emirates flight from Dubai to Sydney

as you booked separate itenaries. there is nothing much you can do now.

    • I would have booked the same carrier if they had the flight from KUL to SIN.

Don't fancy your chances, since you made separate bookings.

Cancel everything and stay at work. Try again in 2020.

thanks for the help, would use again.

  • "Should Emirates/ qantas cover my cost of the flight i made from malaysia to singapore ( was around 250 dollars) ? That booking was made with singapore airlines."

They are not compelled to but you can ask.

Though I fear that if you don't make a decision soon you wont be going on the 8pm flight either, but the advantage is you will fly Emirates the next day and have a wonderful 24 hours in Singapore.

As the flights are on different itineraries, neither Qantas or Emirates are required to do anything. You could ask and they may be nice to you; but it is on you.

I normally leave 24 hours between flights on different itineraries to cover myself from situations like this. Like others have mentioned, ask Emirates to change your booking to next day and spend the day exploring Singapore or try to change the other flight to an earlier one or the night before.

    • Oops. This^ what he said!

You left yourself only 4 hrs difference between connecting flights on different itineraries on different airlines? Ouch…

  • Yeah i feel your pain, but i think you're probably totally out of luck. If they're offering you an alternate flight, you're probably stuck with that.

You could ask to go a day earlier? There's PLENTY to do in Singapore airport, or singapore itself

  • Can you ask Singapore airlines if they can move you to an earlier flight?

So these are different flights and bookings Yeah?

Sounds like Qantas is giving you a free option. Just take it and move on. It isn’t their issue you want to “experience Emirates”.

No? Why should they cover a separate booking with a separate airline ?

  • "I booked through Qantas and don't want to fly them" - I pity the foo

  • If you are that keen to experience Emirates, maybe you could ask to go on the next day's flight and enjoy a night in Singapore.

    • thanks greenpossum. This was discussed with my partner. We will prob go down this route.

  • Out of interest, were you hoping to experience the Qantas Singapore lounge or Emirates? Just because the former is only open from 2:30pm anyway.

In any case, Qantas won't care about your SQ flight from Kuala Lumpur, so your two options are either switch to 8pm QF flight if still available, or request to switch to the next day's Emirates flight with accommodation at your cost.

  • all good guys, emirates put me on the flight 2 days after so i will have a nice 2 nights in Singapore.

    worked out well.
