[MyRepublic] "Unlimited Essential" NBN50 + unlimited Local+Nat'l calls $69.99/mon [opt f 24 mon f: Free Setup+Modem]

PAST:

So, we've enjoyed MyRepublic's ~$60/mon Unlimted 100/40 plan (w/ No incl'd calls), from ~Jun 2017. When we noticed Slowing… we Rang 'em, & they made it Fast again.

MyRepublic's web site still had a comparative Speed Table (that put MyRepublic on top of several of AU's larger + better-known RSPs).

PRESENT:

In today's eMail check, we found their "2-alternatives to choose from" offer

FUTURE (unless/until we learn of a sweeter deal… Anyone got one?):

We'll likely go w/ MyRepublic's "Unlimited Essential" for ~$70/mon (the price we could have paid, in Jun 2017, ie, if we'd needed unlimited calls, which we didn't)

New to MyRepublic? Their NBN50 offer can be taken for 24-months, ie, to get Free Setup & Modem. (In fact, we're considering taking it on a 24-month contract, in case NBN prices go up Again, across that period, if it's a option for us. Maybe we can also get a modem, as an on-hand spare, for doing so.)

MyRepublic's web site still has that comparative Speed Table with Lower speeds (but -still- shows MyRepublic on top, as before.)

So, they'll Halve our speed, & give us unlimited Local+Nat'l calls, that we still don't need.

EXETEL had a sweet ~$60/mon unlimited NBN50 offer, but only for non-Regional folks.
Regionals pay maybe $20/mon More for that(!)

—- Commentary follows… only for Brave & Honest… Skip if you aren't those :~)

/Rant ON

I guess it's a symptom of AU's C'th Gov't to design NBN in such a way, that we have
to accept LESS of what we wanted, for MORE $$.

"Less Value for More Co$t"

(Does this kind of thing happen Outside of AU? Or we the only people, who'd put up with it?)

Afterthoughts: And there sits The Really Clever-Country: Norway, after years of North Sea Petroleum revenues, smart enough to build the -largest- Future-Fund in the world (last time I checked…), & still doing Future-Focused R&D - on Thorium, in support of Liquid-Fuel, Molten Salt Reactors (due ~2025).

Meanwhile, AU still BANS all use of Nuclear (that could cut workers' injuries & deaths), our's "Black States" (Qld, NSW & Vic.) continue to burn toxic Coal (& Qld's Coal-miners still getting deadly Black-Lung disease, that killed my grandfather, in "less safe" times.

Again, I ask: Are Aussies the only people on the planet putting up with this?).

AU has a lot to learn from the World… don't you think? ;~)

    Wut?

is this a statement, a question or just verbal diarrhoea

  • Thanks for reminding me to check my email, i got the plan changes email as well.
though they only sent me NON gamer pro offers despite me being on gamer pro.I just emailed them to see if they can offer Gamer pro NBN 50 at $69.99 otherwise i'll cancel as i don't want that CGNAT bullshit.

    • I would happily trade away Unlimited VoIP Calls for a Fixed IP addr.

Let us know if MyRepublic negotiates…

      • "Thanks for your email,

I have had a look at your account and it seems like you are still on your old plan with the gamer pro.

In regards to the new plans and prices, they have been renamed and repriced. If you wish to have the static ip that is something that can be added on to your account when the new plan commences."

        This is their response.

I'm canceling my NBN with them 100% now.

        • "Static IP addr .. is something that can be added…" for {Free or Fee}…?

PS Who's got the better/best deal?

For us, MyRep. -isn't- asking for $20 more / mon, as (what it ExeTel?) did… claiming "as you're Regional, you'll have to buy NBN from NBN Co."

(They want me to think that -removing- a level in the Retail chain should cost me More than having it between you & NBN Co."

RSP "Mate" had a "promotional" price worth a look - unlimited NBN50, $0 setup, etc, - but I -didn't- see When it rises from ~$60 or to What Higher Price), but they feature "no contract"

          …which I see - in a positive light - as a way to Lock-In ~$70/mon (as a hedge against further price-rises) for unlimited NBN50, w/ unlim'd calls).

        • @IVI: static ip from MR is $10 p/m

Im going with Mungi as they have great speed test on whirlpool forum from users.
$64.95 p/m with dynamic ip which is fine for me and gaming. And they have really good customer support.
They also have static ip for $10 a month if you really need that.

  • Huh?

  • Y'all finished or y'all done?

  • That confused me.

  • tldr

  • Meanwhile, AU still BANS all use of Nuclear

Oh it's so much worse than that. See, Australia has similar oil deposits up in between us and East Timor. But because we are run by neo-liberal ideologues we decided to try and screw East Timor, one of the poorest nations on Earth, and then gave it all to private interests.

Meanwhile the country Norway now controls around 5% of global wealth because they are not run by neo-liberal idealogues and are a socialist regime.

    • I remember the E Timor issue…

      "Past is Prologue"

Norway plans for After N Sea Oil finishes

(One Norwegian, who I met in AU, found it OK, that .NO puts all that $$ aside for the Future… but he said he wouldn't mind getting some of it now, eg, to help buy the Wildly Overpriced good, services, real estate he needs to Live there… which explains why he was in Au…? ;~)

PS Meanwhile the Swiss are trying to change their banking laws for lenders (by referendum):

Now: Lending bank only need 10% of the $$ a borrower want to borrow; ie, bank "creates" the other 90% (something usually reserve for central banks to do), & makes the loan.

Borrower pays back the 100% + interest + any fees.

Referendum wants: lending banks to find (not create) that 90% (eg from Savings deposits, borrowing, etc.), as we all (I did, at least) thought they were doing, all along.

They want "creating" money to be only OK for their central bank (as it is, elsewhere).

So, wanna go to .CH & start a bank, in case that referendum fails to win…? ;~)

  • MyRepublic? Dumped them months ago.

Back in 2016, when they announced their launch in Australia, they proudly said that they are here to disrupt the market, providing High Speed broadband at a very affordable prices (100Mbps @$59.95). 2018, they decided it's better to follow the market instead, raising their prices on par with majority of the ISPs, if not more expensive.

    • No "if not" they are definitely more expensive.
And they are cgnat not dynamic ip so even if they where the same price id go with someone else who offers dynamic ip over them.

      • What don't you like about "Consumer Grade NAT"

PS Is anyone offering Free -IPv6- IP-addr's, yet…?

        Re: RSP "Mate"

There was a $49 / mon Featured Offer on "WhistleOut" this AM.
(It was still there after I ReLoaded their page)

Lasts for 6 months, then goes up by $10, for NBN50

        "All plans Unlimited"
        "BYO modem"
        "$0 setup"

So, What do we know about "Mate"…?
