How to get Netflix on my old Samsung TV?

I have an old, 2011 Samsung Smart TV. I couldn’t find Netflix in the Samsung apps section, so I called Samson technical support. They told me that my old 7000 series Samsung Smart TV does not support Netflix. So my question is what is the simplest or cheapest method to get Netflix on my TV? I have a Google chromecast connected if that helps. Samsung suggested using a Samsung Blu-ray player but I didn’t want to buy a blue Ray player just to get Netflix. All suggestions welcome.

Amazon fire stick cheapest standalone unit.
Apple TV dearest but more functionality and seamless integration if you're within the ecosystem.

    • +1 for Fire TV stick. Cheap and gets the job done, and it doesn't need an app on your phone like the Chromecast. But I'd try the Chromecast first, you already have it and it does the job well enough.

  • Thanks guys, that’ll get me going. I think I’m set now!

    Xiaomi Mi Box.

That chromecast you already have connected will be the ticket. Nothing else to purchase or to connect.

Just download the netflix app to your phone or tablet and cast what you want to watch to the chromecast. easy.

  • Hey, I got my Chromecast working with Netflix- thanks for the link phunkydide!!

  • Perhaps consider Vodafone TV for the long term - it is essentially an Android TV box with the added benefit of a TV tuner as well.

Otherwise if you don't watch much free-to-air, or if you are happy to watch it through the televisions built-in tuner, the Xiaomi Mi Box is incredible and cheap.

    • This or the Foxtel now box. Picked one up on Facebook marketplace for $20. Best purchase yet

    • can you add apps to the mi box? like Stan/ other streaming services?

im still using my wdtv live player which is slowly dying. but it only has Netflix. tv still has a few years to go.
