Cathay Lounge in Hong Kong

Hey travel professionals. I will be travelling to HKG and TPE on Cathay in November for a mates wedding. Cathay have just released some cheaper seats than China Airlines so I get to try them out. Do they have a similar system to Qantas where you can get a complimentary invitation to their lounge in some way? Hong Kong is Cathay's hub and I am guessing also their best lounge/s. If not how do I go about getting some form of lounge access the cheapest to get me in? I can't earn silver status in time.

I flew singapore airlines last year and they lounge in SIN was FANTASTIC, how does it compare to Cathay in HKG?

Random side question, flying from TPE-HKG-BNE back. They have a set of flights with only 50m layover in HKG before my Bris flight. Would that be enough time for check in? Or because I checked in at TPE and it is a short layover it is much quicker?

  • 50 minutes is doable, but you wouldn't want to make a mistake. The arrivals usually have a train leg, but they come often. I would check the standard departure gates and look at the airport map, because it's huge.

  • They don't hand out lounge passes like QF unfortunately. The closest way is finding someone who's MPC gold and willing to comp you in or find a MPC silver and pay 9k AM points to get you in.

  • Is there a way to utilise the Qantas Lounge in Sydmey if I'm flying out on Cathay? Cathay and Qantas are part of the oneworld alliance but I always thought I needed a Qantas or Jetstar ticket/flight code to access the lounge.
