Perth Home Show - Home Theatre Deal - Worth Buying?

Hi All,

Went to the Perth Home Show which is happening this weekend and saw 'West Coast Hi-Fi' stall where they had a nice theatre set up.

The deal is: (prices from west coast hifi website)

130 inch CinemaScope screen - $2050 (their best screen)
Epson TW-9300 Projector - $4000 (2 year old projector, 4K enhanced)
Denon 9.2 Dolby Atmos Receiver AVR-X4400H - $2700
Panasonic 4k bluray player/smart network player - $450
Polk 5.2.4 Atmos Speaker pack - ~$3300
S50 tower speakers x 2
S30 center channel speaker
S15 bookshelf speakers x 2
PSW125 Subwoofer x 2
In-Ceiling speakers x 2

Includes full installation. (~800-1000)

$13,500 based on my rough estimates.

They are offering it for $9,995.

(We are currently building and handover will be ~6 months from now. They have said that we can have this deal then when we are ready to install it - any item that is no longer available will be upgraded to the current model for no extra cost.)

Thoughts??

Just be careful if pay all of it now as you might get burned if the company goes under like what happened with Kambos.

Good point. There is an option for $100 deposit , so that should be ok.

  • Congrats on purposed build. Only question mark is faux 4k projector. 2019 model specs should be released by then and true 4k projectors should drop a bit more.

See if you can demo speakers /projector first. If you like it then BOOM. No doubt they will calibrate it spot on too in your new house :-)

  • The Polk PSW125 has a history of failures with the plate amp.
It is not as bad as the smaller PSW110.
I am not sure if there is a new batch that has fixed this issue however you'll be safe for a while due to warranty.

IMO the Klipsch R-110SW is superior but then it costs more.

    Just FYI

Edit: You are buying a decent setup as I have the TW9200W and use it every day for a TV; for the last 2+ years. Awesome projector. You can't go wrong. Mine is the wireless unit and never use it. I would say it will be ideal if cabling is hard however IMO it is a gimmick.

    Cheers
