Churning from Skymesh HFC NBN

Hey guys,

Currently on skymesh 50/20Mbps plan. Been with them for a year and they used to be great. Used to always get at least 47Mbps down at peak times. Lately it's been closer to 28Mbps, so I've had it. I'm paying too much for 'premium service' that is not there anymore.

What's the OzBargain recommended best 50/20 plan with either unlimited, unmetered Netflix, or a decent allowance.
I see decent deals for Mungi sand Aussie Broadband.

Also how does churning work for HFC customers? Any forward time required?

    get over it.
im on 100 plan and only getting under 20mbps
    HFC nbn.

    • hahaha wtf

    • Thanks for the suggestion…

      Who is your provider?
Why are you still on a 100Mbps plan then?

I was always getting great speeds previously with Skymesh, just lately it's been bad. I certainly wouldn't be paying for 100Mbps plan if all I was getting was <20Mbps.

Are you confident the congestion is at the ISP end, not in your HFC segment?
Lots more people have NBN now than 12 months ago so network capacity is filling up. I have noticed a slowdown during recent school holidays that wasn't their 6 months ago.

    • Yeah, not sure. Not sure how I would be confident, but it does seem to be peak time dependent. It's 46/18 now at 11am on a weekday.

Get in touch with Skymesh support. Tell them you are seeing peak congestion. It may be as simple as them letting you know when they are upgrading their backhaul.
Whirlpool.net.au is a good place to post this kind of thing, as they will have a customer service rep who can give you a real answer.

My thoughts are it is better to try and fix the existing issue before jumping out of the frying pan.

  • many providers require you to cancel first. downtime up to a 2 weeks.
b4b would be mungi and exetel
