  I guess the size of those crowns signify these are for people above mundane things such as using their own hands to do things.

    Actually you will find the crown you see is a protective cap which is unscrewed to access the crown, a feature used by many utalitrian watches of the era.

        That’s where large wrist watches originated, just history repeating itself.
        It was the large movements in pocket watches which dictated the size of the first wrist watches, technology advanced and watches became smaller
