Best ADSL2+ Provider?

I'm one of those sad few who lives in an area that won't be receiving the NBN for at least another year - so need to make do and find an ADSL2+ provider.

Who is currently considered the best value/best performing ISP for this service? Or is there really little difference between the Dodo's and the iiNet's at this end of the market?

Located about 5km from the Melbourne CBD if it matters.

  • TPG

    • Someone downvoted you, but I was leaning towards TPG. Is their reputation not what it used to be?

    • Seconded. It might be area-dependent, but I've been with them for over 5 years now and can count the number of service interruptions on one hand, and they were all the result of Telstra cabling issues from memory.

    Exetel.
If you have a low usage rate then consider some of the mobile offers.

  • They’re all about the same in terms of speed. I used iiNet for years and their service was great - you only ever really need them when you’re first getting started and have some teething issues getting connected.

Your speed is determined by the distance you are from your telephone exchange and the quality of the phone line through your house.
