New BBQ but can decide which one

I think it is time for a midlife crisis. So I want to splurge on a new BBQ. I have a Ziggy 3 burner and an offset smoker but they are just not doing it for my keto lifestyle.

I have looked at the options and have come to a decision as either the traeger pro 34 (which has so many pluses) but looks like its been hit by the ugly stick or the Komodo big Joe.

Both have advantages and dissadvantages.

Anyone use either one? Seems competiton is limited too, so far only bbq galore selling them. I want something I can smoke brisket and pork Ass on as well as doing 6x rib racks. I want somthing to last and somthing that does not make me want to cut my ears off in 3 years.

I am leaning towards the traeger but jeeez the pellets are pricey. While the joe scares me if it drops and yes I have had bbbq's fall.

I dunno, what do you think?

    • nice, the green mountain is another contender, and seems to have some advantages over the trieger.

Midlife crisis, just buy a sports car.
Do you really want to slow cook meat for 12+hrs?

      Yes… Yes you do….

    • nothing like a slow roast to give you time to think about all the bad decisions (and failures to make decisions) one has done in life

Kamado joe…. More versatile, great warranty and looks better..

    • I like how your thinking. But what about the ease of set and forget?

      • I have a Kamado Joe classic.. It's pretty easy to maintain temps with some practice or if you like gadgets and want set and forget something like the Smartfire controller works great (I have one for overnight cooks, plus I like gadgets)

Rotisserie attachment on the kamado is also a great add on… picanha is tasty ;)

Way way more versatility with the kamado.. No way you're getting a 600-900f temp range on the traeger for things like pizzas or steak sears etc.
And no caveman fire experience of lump charcoal, just tipping wood pellets in a hopper…
