Two cars under one name in VIC

Hi,
Is there any implications on registering two cars under one name in Vic?

Also in case in the future i want to change my wife to be the owner / switch it to be registered under my ABN should it be problematic?

Thanks

you can have 999999999 cars under 1 name

switch to spouse is easy , but switch to abn will need proper transfer docs .. rwc / stamp duty , etc.

  • Transfer of title generally requires a RWC, also you can only register a vehicle either using a Driver's License or an ACN (as distinct from an ABN) but there's no limit on the number of vehicles which can be registered to either.

  • Many cars under a name isn't an issue.

A car registered under a business and under personal carries many implications - tax, insurance, fines…

Could you please rephrase this part? It doesn’t make sense.

  • Transferring to your wife is Duty-exempt, but will involve a Transfer Fee (about $40).

I believe transferring to a business will involve both Transfer fee and Duties (which is about 4% of the value of the vehicle)

I have six cars registered to my name. The only problem that has arisen, is that I also have to pay registration on 6 cars.

    • And the fines for everyone that drives them too?
