Best Value iPhone?

My phone recently broke so I'm currently using a 2012 Sony Xperia. What would be the best value iPhone to buy right now? Or is it worth waiting another month until the new one gets released?

    Value

    iPhone

    Pick one.

Value is measured more than just raw monetary cost. iPhones are more valuable than any other device simply due to Apple's privacy stance* and not having your data sold to others which is to be applauded and important to some people. Also aesthetic, ecosystem, environment, fashion symbol, looks, iMessage, certain features, high resale value, "me too" effect & whatever else are all perceived 'value' by an individual. But nice try trolling.

OP: Definitely wait till next month for the new updates which will reduce current prices as well. SE is pretty much regarded as best monetary value iPhone, possibly an SE2 being released though rumours said that last year too.

Agree with Hybroid. Stick around for the September release so you know what you are looking at and it's usually the perfect time to buy.

Agree with Hybroid - despite costing a bit more to buy into there’s a lot of good after sales support for the iPhones which factor into the value equation.

Batteries that aren’t holding charge properly within 2 years of purchase Apple replace for free. Out of 2 years you get one for $39 https://support.apple.com/en-au/iphone/repair/battery-power

No matter how you break your phone - hand your old one back in and for a fee (less than half of buying new) Apple will issue you a certified refurb https://support.apple.com/en-au/iphone/repair/service/expres…

Free operating system updates - no forums clogged with users begging their telco to deploy the latest OS for their phone to their handset.

        Excellent resale values

Family sharing of apps (but not in app purchases)

Wait till Sep as @adamfury said this is best time to buy. You might see a deal on a new release plus there tend to be deals on older models as well.

    I think SE or 6S

SE and 6S are the cheapest that can download all current apps.

The 6 and above will (apparently) get better in a month with iOS 12, so don't feel too bad about a slower, older phone. iOS 11 is very janky.

second hand/new iphone 7, very similar to an 8 just cheaper

  • Buy a 30$ or a cheap phone to cover for such events and wait till September even if you wish to buy a second hand, there are many people selling at that time. Of course also a great time to buy a new phone.
