What Happens When You Cancel amaysim?

I decided to get the new belong $10 plan and cancel my amaysim $10 plan as the belong plan is a full calendar month and unused data rolls over, which is better then amaysim’s 28days. My plan was meant to end today but I didn’t know if it would be disconnected in the morning or night so I turned auto renew off and ported over to belong yesterday. Basically just to make sure I keep my number.
Today I received this text from amaysim;

“Your UNLIMITED 1GB expires today at 12 midnight. Data will be switched off but you can still make & receive calls. Text UNL1GB to 568 to restart your plan.“

I don’t understand this.. Does this mean that if I turned off auto renew months ago I could of had free text and calls all this time and possibly forever? Seems like you pay $10 just for the 1Gb data and that’s all. Does anyone know what’s the go here and if I am right in assuming what I wrote above? Do you eventually get disconnected? I don’t get it.

    They ignore it and charge you anyway…
    Make sure you cancel the preapproved PayPal payment

      I hope they won’t charge me anyway, what a drag that would be. I was paying by credit card not PayPal.

    I think the wording is just clumsy.

    Once your $10 unlimited expires you'll be shifted to their PAYG plan automatically. You'll be able to receive calls and SMS but won't be able to make calls or send SMS or use data unless you have credit.

    If you never recharge I'd guess the SIM would eventually be disabled 455 days days later. See https://www.amaysim.com.au/dms/amaysim/documents/terms-condi… section 10.3.

    455 days = 365 days after last recharge + 90 days passive period.

      Clumsy? It specifically says you can make and receive calls. What a confusing company they’re

      I’ll have to check my account and see if it’s been switched to the “payg” plan and take it from there.

        See, the thing is the UNLIMITED 1GB plan ended and you went back to PAYG. Sure you can make and receive calls, but they didn't add that you have to pay for making calls at PAYG rates. Nothing was said about calls being free, that's what you thought.

    They all end the same way depending on how you executed the change.
    The message from amaysim is quite clear. But just ignore it. Dont try and read anything more into it.
    Just wait for your number to be ported to Belong
    IMPORTANT: Usually on weekdays porting is done within the hour so give Belong a call to find out whats going on.

    You can also change the payment method in your account to bpay. This will make sure your cc details are gone. And you won't be charged.
