Can you clarify what you are after, maybe an example link? And what risk "just to be safe" is ameliorating? Is it zip failure, theft, something else?

  I've never seen Samsonite style hard cases on sale at an affordable price.
  I bought a couple of larger ones second hand ($30-$40), but it took a bit of hunting.
  
  I think your risk of things being stolen is only marginally reduced with a hardshell bag, they can be easily opened. Best bet is to not leave valuables inside, but this is obviously difficult in some circumstances.
