Adobe Creative Cloud at $43.99 per month - As Good as it Gets?

I received a targeted email offering all apps in the Adobe Creative Cloud for $43.99 a month for a year. I'm interested in (better) learning how to use Photoshop and Premiere, having messed around with them 10 years ago. Can't see myself making any money of out of this for a while, or ever, though so it's a hard purchase to justify.

Is this a frequent deal or likely to be bested any time soon?

Last good deals I can see on the forums seem to be from 2016 or so, so unless they're seldom posted here then I suppose this may be as good as it gets.

The deadline is today (25th Aug), but my thinking is if I miss it and get in touch via customer service, they'd likely still cut that deal a few days to a week from now anyway, right?

Thoughts/experiences?

I started on a deal like that but then they kept jacking up the price every month until it reached $67.89 a month. When I cancelled they then offered it for $43.99 a month. I just use my work CC account now.

  • Thats pretty darn cheap.

I was going to say get the photography plan + premiere pro. But the single app subscriptions have gone up last time i checked. Didn't realise it was $28 per month per app now.

Man I miss working for a uni, much cheaper for edu pricing.

If you want a cheap way to get Photoshop, rock the Photography plan ($14.99 p/m) and go from there, then look at premiere later (maybe?) - it'll be for $43 for Lightroom, Photoshop & Premiere.

Will you use the others? After effects?

    • I really want to get my hands on Premiere, even more than Photoshop, so if they're $28 a piece then… damn. $56 a month just for the two.

I'm not gunning for the rest, but if it's a package deal then why not? I've never done paid work using any of this stuff but I would very much like to. Seems like the sort of thing you can teach yourself with enough time and patience.

  • It is like $74 a month now!! Take it while you can get it….

  • Anyone know if they'd extend the deadline on the deal? Assuming it ends today (midnight AEST) then I've got like 43 minutes to decide whether to pull the trigger on a $527.88 purchase…

  • You can't cancel a sub at any point during the year and simply stop paying either, like Spotify, from what I can see.

  • Thinking out loud here, but what are the chances you could sell your subscription to someone else like gym membership?

  • Just checking through my spam folder and it seems that since signing up for the trial back in Feb, they've made similar (ignored) deals in May, June and July - being the same All Apps Pass for $58.29, $39.99, and $43.99 respectively - so about once a month they seem to make similar offers if you've signed up for the trial but never followed through with a full purchase after 3 months.

AND the old links still work for the same prices. Turns out the cheapest emailed in June ($39.99) was not inclusive of GST, so they're best price that I can see is that $43.99 inc. tax and the old email links (from this year at least) lead to the checkout page regardless of expiry date. This is assuming you don't get an error if you try to progress further with the discounted payment outside the expiry date.

  • Go for the student pricing again. I'm on my second round, for some reason it worked.

    • You're not a student?

      • I was when I did it the first time. But the second time I started it I wasn't and it worked, didn't even ask for a check or nothing. The thing says 12 months after I started it the second time it will go up to $43 a month, or 4/10ths increase for post student pricing, or something like that. I can barely remember. I'll worry about that in the future.

        • Student pricing is like $29.99 or something, right? And you still have the 12 month commitment?

        • Student pricing is 21.99 a month, 12 months I believe, if you sign up before 31 Aug. It looks like I'm paying 28.59 a month. It won't let me get the 21.99 deal because I'm already got a license for student offer at 28.59. Shame.

        • @AustriaBargain: $22 bucks a month - now that's a lot more inviting.

        • Do you have a kid in school or a mate who is in uni? It let me do it a second time maybe because I already did it once with uni days or my uni email address, which I haven't had access to in years.

        • @AustriaBargain: I… will have to see about that. Who's studying? Who's studying? Hmmm…

Seems like a crazy (ongoing subscription) price to pay for applications with free high quality alternatives.

    • Which are the two best substitutes for Photoshop and Premiere in your opinion?

  • My daughter is in year 12 and she can get the full CC license free from her school.

    • Can I borrow her login deets?

      • I'm afraid she is against bending the rules :P

But thought to mention that in case you knew anyone.
