    • What's good about it is that you don't need the app to work :)

    • +1

on the other hand, I've always had problems with the hungry jacks app at the redeeming stage, saying i've already redeemed it. staff normally don't care, but I've had a couple of guys who admit their app is broken but still refuse to honour the deal (wasn't even a free thing, was a discounted burger)

  • It's obvious their servers can't handle free cheeseburger day. I just went home instead and made a healthy lunch.

  • -1

Ozbargained. Told they only had a certain amount aus wide and they’re all gone.

  • +2

I got error message 500 and 503 (not at the same time. I got 503 first, then refreshed and got 500) :|

Sometimes it errors because I havent connected to the wifi. But I made sure that the wifi was connected, and it still gave errors when accessing the 'My Rewards' section.

Maccas App is so frustrating to deal with. It's a lot of effort to get free or discounted things.

Just look at the App on Google Play. Average rating is 1.9 Stars, with more 1 Star reviews added daily. I wonder if the App ratings has any impact on Executive Bonuses. They should scrap the bonuses, and then maybe they would put the effort into the App. They have the economics of scale. How can they expect widespread use of the app and automated ordering, when it's so painful to use.

Maccas Instore Wifi, App and Kiosks are painful to use.

  • +5

Of course the app is broken today. What a joke.

    • what stopping you?

    • I just went up, said the app was frozen and they put it through in store. Myer centre food court Adelaide

  • +1

An hour later I get the receipt email for my failed order and charged for it too.

    Was only $5

  • Any workaround for the broken app? Will they give if you ask in store?

    • Even though the app gave me looping errors, the order still went through. I never picked it up as I never knew the order went through.

Try going in store and asking or scan the code on a Kiosk.

There are going to be a lot of Not Picked up orders today if other people do what I did.

    • Ask at the counter, they were pretty much just handing out cheeseys where I went.

    • Yep, I got it by asking

  • -2

    Removed. Fail.

  • +1

I can't even view my offers/rewards. Tried signing out and signing back in but now I can't even sign in.

  • It’s not even showing up in my offers anymore (it did this morning). I’ve just got the “we’re busy cooking up new offers” image…..

  • +2

They know the app has broken. Just walk in to the store and order free burger. No app or account required.

    • That's good to know. I would avoid wearing a balaclava and carrying a pistol when making the demand.

But I don't like having to beg at McDonalds. I don't like the Monopoly system, for example. I'm treated like a criminal by having to hand over my phone (which I take into toilets thank you very much).

  • +1

Went up to the Canberra Centre McDonald's about 40 minutes or so ago. Asked about the free cheeseburger thing "is it today?" and then said my app isn't working "oh yeah a few people have said that, no problem" and I got it.

  • +2

App is not working - asked at the Richmond store what’s the go and if I could get one anyway, lady said it’s a technical issue not her problem and refused to give me one! Sh1t Service maccas!

    • +1

That sucks, it worked for me at the Myer Centre Adelaide store…

  • +1

    Thanks Op Great Post.
Picked up my Free Cheese Burger even though App was down. The girl at the counter didnt even care to look at my phone to show her the app lol
This was at the Macca's near Goldsbrough Lane on Bourke Street in the City.

  • +3

App now working and I just ate cheeseburger. Was at level 5 Parramatta and I cheerfully called out and showed my cheeseburger to the dude working there who had, 2 mins earlier, told me that there was a 200k limit nationwide and the app was broken because the limit was hit. You're wrong, dumbass.

  • App is now working

    • But some stores aren't even scanning and giving out for free. Token reserved!

  • -3

How does it work, do i just show the offer / or do i need to actually place the order?

    • -4

thanks for the neg but no info.. well done mate.

    • Have you tried checking with Wolfden?

  • App was not working for me, nor would it process on the kiosks. I thought that it was because I removed the onions from the order but a few other people in line had the same issue. Guy at front counter was able to process it from the barcode text. I was going to buy a Gourmet Creation burger too but that deal wasn't showing up so I gave it a miss.

TL;DR happy with a free cheeseburger but very frustrating to get!

    • Was having a number of issues as well.
The account server was down a lot more than it should be. We found that the 25% off codes for new users were actually working fine, but any cheeseburger codes we got our hands on never worked.
Lady at the counter just gave me a cheeseburger instead when I displayed it, but didn't actually use my code at all, since I can still use it in the app

      • -1

is drive through an option? Or do you have to go into the store? so sounds like there are multiple methods of placing an order?

        • -1

You have asked this before. Maccas provides info on how to use the App.

It is not our job to teach you how to use the App.

        • -1

          @Tom2222:

Actually if you read all the people with issues with the app and doing things in different ways, it seems like it. show me where i have asked this before?

        • -2

          @lonewolf:

If you can not work out how to use the App in the simple ways, why would anyone bother to help you?

        • -1

@Tom2222: Because not everyone is like you.

        • -1

          @lonewolf:

          Should I Quote You?

How does it work, do i just show the offer / or do i need to actually place the order?

        • -1

@Tom2222: I am not even sure what you are trying to say?

Point is a lot of people had problems including some people losing the offer altogether. I wanted to make sure i didnt make a mistake and place the order in the wrong method where i end up losing the offer. If you dont want to be helpful, you dont need to respond. Never understood people who sit behind their keyboards having a go at people.

        • -1

@Tom2222: In that post i was asking about drive through or do i have to go into the store, and you said i have asked that before. Which as you quoted me proves that i never did. jeez.

        • -1

          @lonewolf:

Never understood people who can not read a thread and learn what other have been saying on how to claim the offer.

We are not baby sitters. Learn how to use the deal and don't expect to be spoon feed.

          END OF SUBJECT

        • -1

          @lonewolf:

Have you Actually downloaded the App or use the FAQ provided by McDonalds.

          Clearly you haven't.

So before you take things personal, use the provided resources.

If you would have, you would have seen how to collect orders, Drive-Thru, In Store.

You just seem to been complaining about something that is common knowledge to anyone who has used the App before.

        • @Tom2222:

hahaha, mate you clearly dont have a clue as yes i have used it before during the free big macs day. The reason why i was asking this time was people were reporting that sometimes they would place an order and then it would disappear and they wouldnt be able to claim it back. Other times they would prepay on credit card and that they couldnt just order and pick up like before. Then others said the app had changed since the updates or something.

I actually wasnt complaining, i was asking for advice, you came on here and complained that i was asking questions on …OMG..a forum. So it seems like you are projecting onto me what you were actually doing.

For those who used this deal with another order and it failed and were still charged $, this is Maccas process.

You need to dispute the charge with the bank.

Maccas will refuse to look into it.

I went through this with a $3 Nugget deal for a store I never attended. Even though I claimed it from the store I placed my order at.

It was drive thru, don't own a car, order number was 000 and done at midnight.

Good luck you guys/gals, seems a grab for cash as this is the 2nd time stung.

Offered Nothing, would have been happy with just the meal at later date.

  • +1

Why do their terrible screens screw me over every time? First try. Entered code, added small cheeseburger meal, went to pay, clicked on card, and on the card screen it was charging me for the meal and burger. No way to cancel so had to wait until it timed out. Started over, added code and meal, went to click takeaway and the kiosk froze. Nothing worked. Couldn't reset.

Went to the register and told them machine won't work etc. Code vanished from app and without code, they said no free burger. so I walked out in disgust.

    • -1

The deal was for just a cheeseburger, not a meal.

      • +2

I know that but I was going to get a meal AS WELL AS the free burger. You didn't read what I wrote.

  • +1

Guess it's well known that it's stuffed.
Go to the store, use the kiosk and the code, all's good until it asks if I'm dining in or taking away, to which it doesn't respond.

Try via mobile app, same deal, the wheel just spins and says I have not network and an "Error 53". Gives me a drive thru code, but my order does not appear in the system.

Walk out empty handed. Check my emails, and they sent me a receipt as though I've picked my order up, and the offer is gone/been used.

    Marketing gimmick.

    • Make sure they didn't charge you…

      • They would have been charged, same as me

        • +1

That's exactly why I don't use the app, The likelihood of being double charged/losing the order etc. and having no avenue for a refund isn't worth the measly $3 saving. As it is I don't trust the screens any more and I double check the amount on the card reader before tapping, because SO often you'll find a discount has been scanned and hasn't actually gone through (like today!).

        • @Levathian:

I spent 2 weeks in a battle with Maccas over $3 charge that was not mine, ended up just a fail.

All I wanted was my 6 Nuggets which I paid for. Happy to say I spent more than $3 in employee wages (Maccas) time in just complaining.

Want my $5 back for this deal, so I might do it and complain again.

Referring it to the bank is a nightmare.

  • -2

Had a free meal on maccas tonight - combo of this deal plus some monopoly action…
2x cheese burgers (2 mobile devices)
1x mccafe coffee (2nd chance monopoly)
1x small fries (instant win monopoly)

and because of the two orders via the app for the 2 free cheeseburgers, the second chance codes they email you I picked up another:
    1x small fries
    1x cheese burger
Will save these for another night.

    I'm lovin it.

    • Isn't there a maximum of 1 monopoly thing you can claim per day? Or did you do multiple orders?

      • Monopoly rewards is 1 per order, which in practice means you just need to put it through separately. The staff don’t care, they just ring it up separately.

    • Mc'lovin it ;)

  • Went to place an order last night and to also claim my free cheeseburger and surely enough I was getting a network error. Now I have a $8.62 pending on my credit card and I did not receive my goods as I left.

What a (profanity) joke these (profanity) are!

    • You will be charged for this, Maccas will just say dispute it with the bank.

Hint: Complain to the ACCC @acccgovau

      • Yep I called them on Wednesday and they said the pending charge will drop off. Come today, and what do you know, the charge went through!
