Airbnb Referrals

Has anyone tried using the referral links from OzB for AirBnB signups as per here? https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/151717

I went to use AirBnB for the first time today and clicked the usual random referral link. When I tried to book no credit had been applied despite the sign up telling me so. After querying AirBnB on Facebook they wanted to know the email of the referrer which I couldn't provide as it was random. As a result of this they came back that the referral was invalid.

So now I have a new AirBnB account and no referral credit :(

    Gotta learn to 'play dumb' in such matters. Could have said "Im not sure which of my friends sent me the referal (since your so popular and have so many FB and email friends) .
    BTW, can just cut your losses, and start again. Start new account. And/or have partner start a new account, and both use that account for bookings.
    Can use my referal if you want , PM me , and can give you my name, so its all good if they ask for referal.

    i've signed up with multiple email addresses, always referring from the same 'parent' account and never had a problem. just refer yourself

    Did anyone notice the referral credit is varied? A friend has $21 for referring hosts, I have an offer for $137 and another friend has an offer for $167 …
