Recommendations for Cheap Lunch in Pyrmont (NSW)

Hey folks,

I've just started working Pyrmont and the price of and average lunch is pretty expensive.

Does anyone have any recommendations for cheap lunches if I need to eat out. I'm thinking in the same price range as lunches at the Hunter Connection Wynyard and the Woolies food court at Town Hall.

Thanks!

Walk south to Haymarket or across the Pyrmont Bridge to Town Hall. You can access the top and tail of Chinatown for decent value.
Avoid Darling Harbour, as this is a major tourist destination and prices reflect this.
Catch the light rail to Glebe/inner-West, won't take you much time at all and plenty of cheaper options out this way.

Chinatown, there is an underground(literally basement) food court. Everything I have ever had there was amazing quality and very reasonably priced. I forget the name of it, but it is in the main mall of chinatown, opposite paddys markets, you walk along and there is a sign advertising foodcourt , and down a few steps.
For something closer, well there is a maccas in darling harbour inside the centre right next to pyrmont there. There are 2 maccas round darling harbour, the 1 inside shopping centre there is either in 'Pyrmont' or right next to it. Not healthiest, but certainly cheap if you make use of the maccaz app deals, or their dollar saver menu .
In Haymarket there is a frattelli fresh, use Hey You app for one off discount of $5-$10 with various codes here. Can use more than once with multiple accounts.
Could also take your own lunch, sandwiches or whatever you like, and sit and eat it at pyrmont vacinity, when you walk from star casino to around darling harbour, you walk under a bridge, and there was tables and chairs set up outside last time I walked through there about 1 month ago. Lovely spot to sit, and I think it is free for public as it is adjacent naval museum property.

      • Yes thats it . 'Dixon House' . Lots of chinese people there to get their chinese food fix (so seems like genuine authentic chinese dishes, made to perfection) . ie. My friend ordered a dish with prawns, and had tails still on prawns or something, but Im guessing that its probably meant to be that way. I ordered something years ago and to my surprise chicken still had bones in it, but again, im thinking that is how is should be made traditionally/authentically. A few backpackers seem to know about it also. Kind of a secret/hidden spot. Generally a meal will be about $12 for half rice/noodle and some delicious dish. Or about $10 for special fried rice or similar. I have been getting the chicken fried rice, from lovely lady about centre, on your left, as you walk in.
Chocolate milkshakes on right immediately as you walk in are awesome too, $6 but worth it every now and then, its like they melt/blend real chocolate into the drink somehow. Much better than your average choc milkshake.

There's a cafe on Harris st called Big Mouth. Make the best sandwich for $10-12 (depending on your stuffing). It's healthy and very filling too.
