Can't Check-in Online - Tripit.com & Japan Airlines

Hi OaBargainers,

I have flights booked for next week to Japan and I was attempting to check-in online today. I've used TripIt.com to get the flight and now it seems I don't have the ability to check-in as it was organised by them.

I've made a call to TripIt only to be told that they do not have the authority to check me in.

Has anyone else experienced something similar? Would love some help!

    Check ins are normally within 24 hours of your flight and some carriers don’t allow online checkins for international flights.

    • Ahh i see, there's an option for more than 24 hours check-in and a less than 24 hour check-in. I'll just have to wait and see. Thanks!

        I bought tickets to Japan through Qantas directly this year and could not check in online for the flight… Had no problems doing it with Singapore Airlines or Jetstar in previous years… In fact more than 7 years ago.. Some airlines are just behind the times.

        Because we had to go via Sydney (Airlines choice not ours) we weren't eligible, it's dumb. Same airline from Mel to Kix

    I could be wrong but I don’t think tripit sells tickets, they have a link to hipmunk which is a travel aggregator, which refer you a list of online travel agents. I would find out which agent you used, orbitz travelocity etc and contact them, and ask for the airline booking reference, this is different to the eticket number or booking number. With the airline reference you will be able to access the airlines web portal to change seats, check in etc
