Problem with Installation of Xiaomi Smart Toilet Seat

Hi,

After thinking about it for a long time and several trips to Japan, I finally decided to get one of these fantastic Xiaomi Smart Toilet Seats.

I already had a bad feeling as I saw that the adapter (or filter), which sits in between the water connection and the seat, had a plastic threading, but still decided to give it a try.

After laying on my back, squeezed in between the shower wall and the toilet for 1-2h, I finally got everything setup and connected, but (of course!) the connection to the filter via the plastic thread seemed uneven. After taking it on and off about ten times (and it still looking uneven) I decided to try just a little bit of force.

I assume you all can guess what happened - the plastic threading has disintegrated and now I cant connect it at all.

I doubt that I can simply get a replacement filter from Xiaomi. Is there some kind of standard component that would do the job? Not even sure what to search for…

Thank you very much for any suggestion (will just use the seat heating function for now)!

Hi David8, I experienced the same issue as you. The design of that part is really bad, the plastic threading is easily striped off by the metal connector. I too had issues with the alignment and repeated attempts to fix it stripped the threads.

One of the issue I see is that the thread starts too far from the end of the filter, so there isnt much thread to hold the 2 parts together.

Luckily there is alot of threads on the filter, I was able to use sandpaper to sand off the damaged threads and essentially start again. Once I sanded about 8 to 10mm back, I had essentially a clean slate to work with. As the threads are now closer to the end, it joined together more easily and it was more aligned too.

Although, I would have liked for the parts to be better made. I was able to get it working, so perhaps you can try the same method too.

    • Thanks for the good advice, I might give that a go as well!

    • Must be nice.

  • Exact same thing happened to me, I was lucky enough that I managed to screw it on tight enough that it stayed in place. Such a badly designed thread.

  • Same thing to me as well. I ended up bringing the filter to Bunnings and tried over there with different metal connectors. I used an L shape connector at the end. But it started leaking, luckily a thread sealing tape did the job.
