Need advice on buying Alienware Wireless Gaming Headset: AW988

Hi,

I'm planning to buy Alienware Wireless Gaming Headset: AW988, as I've Dell coupons with me.
Wondering if someone already bought it and would provide some feedback.

My usage: Most of the times connecting to Mobile for music and watching movies on Laptop.
Not planning to play any games in near future.

I'm buying exclusively because I've Dell coupons, else would have considered Bose QC 35 II or Sony noise cancelling headsets.

Thank you

  • Not planning to play any games in near future

Then spend money on something that is more versatile. The QC35's can be worn out of the house as your go-to headphones and can pair with all your devices, including your laptop

  • Where do you buy Dell 'coupons' (I assume you mean giftcards or similar)?

You would be best off selling the giftcards for ~90% of face value and buying a decently reviewed set of wireless headphones, or using them for some other computer equipment for yourself or someone you know.

Gaming headsets are known to be ridiculously over-priced, and these appear to fit that description. If you don't need them for gaming you are paying that premium plus paying for a bunch of features you are unlikely to need.

    • (Out-of-)Warranty returns/claims?

  • agreed on QC35.

  • Wait for the ozbargain favourite's new release.

The Sony wh1000xm3 is out soon. Improved headband design, usb c charging, updated drivers and improved software connection.

Now just need a flood a deals.
