Lightweight Laptop / Tablet with Keyboard

Hello!

Am looking for a laptop / tablet to travel overseas with. Am not going to spend over 800 and it must be under 1kg (as I will be hiking). Just need something reliable for work, so ability to run InDesign, Powerpoint, stream, etc is all I really need.

Any recommendations / suggestions?

Thanking you all in advance.

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Lenovo-YOGA-520-14-FHD-Touch-i5-…

    $719.20

8th Gen (quad core) core i5
    8GB RAM
    128GB NVME SSD

    Starting at 1.75 kg

The Yoga 520 is Lenovo's most low-end Yoga series, so compared to the Yoga 720 of 1.3KG, it's much heavier @ 1.7KG but it fits your budget.

Lenovo Yoga (last generation) can be had quite cheaply too, @ $559.20 (Recondition), it's dual core, i5-7200U, 8GB RAM, 128GB SSD and 13.3 inch FHD touchscreen display

For anything lighter than that, I would buy a Surface Go. It's also around $800 dollars and less if you have discounted gift cards (e.g JB HIFI) to buy it with.

    • 1.75kg light lmao

    • Thanks Scrimshaw!
      Very helpful and informative.

Might have to bite the bullet and get a tablet!

Under 1kg is hard. You are pretty much restricted to tablets. The surface go is the newest option, otherwise check ebay/statitice for the older Galaxy book. Then get a case or BT folio keyboard.

    • Yep…general consensus aligned with my research. Was hoping the Ozbargain experts would have found something I had missed. Looks like a tablet it is.

You can have only two of Power, Light, Cheap. You will need to choose one to sacrifice. It seems like power is probably the one you need the least and I would definitely consider running a tablet - as mentioned above the new Surface Go is probably the best option. If you prefer something more powerful and light then I would probably suggest the LG gram - this is under 1kg for the 13inch version and 1.1kg for the 15inch version but this will stretch your budget to $2000. If you want Power and Cheap then it will definitely heavier - the above laptop recommended by @Scrimshaw is in this category.

    • Thanks for the response.
The Surface Go is pretty weak compared to the Surface Pro, but I will be sacrificing cheap if i went for the Pro as I will need to buy a keypad separately.

      Dilemma!

      • Yeah definitely not as powerful in terms of computing power, but the more powerful version of it does come with 8Gb RAM and 128GB of SSD, which means only heavy CPU reliant tasks will you notice a difference - and would be more than capable of simple media consumption
