Not Ultimate Edition
I never pay more than $80 for new games, Ultimate edt or not.
Get it in December around $40 or less
you can get it on release day for $64, can't see much value in these 'ultimate editions' when all your paying for is a early 3 day access to the game and 40 gold packs across 20 weeks for around $40-60 more
It's easy to justify if you play ultimate team - by getting a head start on everyone else you actually save yourself a lot of time and money in the long term because the prices of players are relatively cheap in those 3 days (5 if you have ea access too). What would cost you lots of money in packs or time in grinding comes for free early on.
Of course if you play Ultimate Team it costs you a lot of time and money in the long term too, but that goes without saying.
How many good players have you got from the jumbo premium gold packs? If they had offered 40 premium players packs they would be worth it but the packs there offering mostly contain 79-81 rated cards filled with gold contracts.
I find the grind aspect of ultimate team the best part about it tbh
Not many from those packs, but they are better than the packs you get for the same price in the champion edition, which is the only other edition that gives you the game 3 days early. You have to have the game to buy FIFA points, so you theoretically spend those 3 days opening packs and getting more for the players in them than you would if you opened them after release day.
I have found the prices are exorbitantly high near the start of the game. Not sure if it is during the first week or so but I have seen people buy Gabriel Jesus's for 30k at the start compared to the price of around 5k around December. So the market settles down and it is much easier for players to get a decent team around Dec/Jan.
Source: First time playing FUT ever and started around December this year and finished with a 190 rated squad without spending any amount in game.
