  • So they both have identical processors and 1TB mechanical drives. The bluetooth version is newer on the HP. The HP has 8gb of RAM where as the ACER only has 4 with "16GB intel optane" not sure how the performance of that goes so maybe someone can offer insight into that.

1366 x 768 display resolution automatically gets a no from me (both laptops). Not for $764.

    Look into a Lenovo E485 perhaps? https://www.ozbargain.com.au/product/lenovo-thinkpad-e485

    • How is i5 compared to amd ryzen 5?

+1 on this. For less than $200 extra you are getting so much more. 16GB ram. SSD which will make a world of difference. 1920 x 1080. 45WH battery and it comes with a USB - C charger.

      1366 x 768 display

      What is this 2009

    • The keyboard is far superior on the Lenovo as well.

After having used a colleagues Acer, I was very relieved to go back to my e570.

  • It infuriates me how laptops are still being shipped with mechanical drives. I recently got my wife a Dell from the ebay sale and it had a HDD. First thing I did was pull the drive out and replace it with an SSD.

    • I am happy if it comes with a HDD as long as it acts as a storage drive not a boot drive (SSD)

  • Get one of those $1000 1050ti / 6700hq / 1080p / 8-16gb ram laptops

They will give you a much better time.. like scrimshaw said 1366 x 768 should honestly be banned / illegal now.. it is so bad (source used to watch youtube and game on a 1366 x 768 laptop.. ship was not cash)

  • The one one the left.

  • Ew, 768p screens

Have you looked into the e line of thinkpads? They've been having great sales recently.

They have a line with the ryzen processors as well, cwhich has vastly better iGPUs.

Recently bought one myself for $755. Think they go for something in the $800s right now though.

Edit: If you go for that, just get the SSD and add your own HDD. Their prices are pretty bad for HDDs
