    • Out of curiosity, what is the advantage of having a US account these days? I have one but can no longer download the books from US links unless I'm connected to a US VPN. It's annoying so I'm considering switching my account to AU. Just wondering if there's a reason to hang onto the US account.

      • wondering the same thing! given i began with the US account I'm abit worried about making the 'conversion' to AUS? I have no idea why, I mean they want you to transfer, why not just make one central kindle account? Not sure what will happen by switching to AUS but presuming it's a worse deal so I've been holding off.

Would love to know the pros/cons for switching to the Aus account (you can't go back to US can you afterwards?).

      • I started with US account before there was an AU one. I still stick with it even this year they changed the regulations about GST.
I didn't switch is because I am not sure what will happen to my previous purchased books. My experience is all the books only link to that account. If I want an AU one I have to register with a different email address and will loose the entire library.

On the other hand I didn't have any problem of accessing US links and making a purchase in Australia (without a US VPN). So I am not sure why you encounter such problem. I now still can view the US store and pay in USD to buy eBooks. (I don't think I can purchase anything else which needs to be shipped to AU)
