Scoopon - Paid $472, received nothing

I tried to purchase some Scoopons last week. They had Laser Hair Removal packages, $550 worth for $59 (unlimited Scoopons could be purchased) so I selected to buy 8. 8*59 = 472.

On the Scoopon website - when I pressed the button to 'purchase now' - instead of telling me that my purchase was successful, it gave me a page full of technical error messages.

I checked my credit card and could see that $472 had been taken out of my available credit therefore thought the transaction may have been successful, but decided to email Scoopon to double-check.

I sent this email:

I purchased 8 Scoopons of the laser hair removal today (8 * 59 = 472), but as I pressed the 'Get Scoopon' button, an error message was returned.

When - after 24 hours - I'd received no reply, I wrote a follow up email:

I replied to this email within 30 minutes with the details they requested.

That was sent 72 hours ago now. I'm still yet to receive a response. Yes, I do check my Spam folder. I'm still yet to receive my refund. I've written two follow up emails and still nothing.

I wonder if and when I'll ever see my $472 again?

I will never purchase from this company again. A company without a listed phone number - I should have known better. I'm desperate now - this isn't a trivial amount of money and I'd thought long and hard about making the purchase in the first place. I wish I hadn't have made it.

Scoopon - if you're reading this - please process my refund!!

    I won't be using them if the matter is not satisfactorily resolved … also its a pity they didn't give you the vouchers - you would have thought they would have wanted to keep the money.

    I hope its just "slipped through the net" & fixed by Monday for you.

  • I think things would be ok, they wouldnt bother replying if they were going to rip you off. Either way if nothing heard by Tues file a dispute with your CC provider.

  • i had the same technical error and scoopon take ages to get back to you. mine still hasn't been sorted, but have a ticket number and if havent heard back from them on monday, i will contact them again.

  • Write a letter of demand as what you paid for were not properly delivered. If they do not respond within reasonable time, feel free to file this case to your credit card provider who will investigate this case further. You won't lose a cent.(you won't be liable for any interest incurred by the disputing amount)

    BTW I've now noticed that there is no longer a 'Reviews' area on the Scoopon facebook page.

    I'm still yet to hear from them.

    I'm going to write to the Dept of Fair Trading if I don't get my refund soon.

    • Haha that page was taken down a while ago. Ever since they starts to oversell the services!
