J-trax A/T tyres, any Good?

I'm needing to replace my tyres and am looking at J-trax as the listed price is $219. Bob Jane T-Mart has a buy 4 pay 3 deal then each tyre comes out at $164

Has anyone used these before as I can't find any reviews of these online.

These are to replace my Goodreach AT22 on a Prado (265-65-17)

Cheers

One thing you should never cheap out on is tyres. There is literally 4 hand prints connecting your car (and family) to the road. You won't notice the difference when it's dry, but night and day when you're in the rain.

For the extra ~$100 for the set (which you'll have for the next 3-5 years or 60-100k km), it's worth it for the peace of mind.

I did a quick 5 minute search and found these:
    * Tyresales have the Dunlop Grantrek AT20 (the original tyres on the Prado depending on your year) for $188ea - you can get KTAS to beat this by $5/tyre so $183ea or $75 more a set than the J-trax.
    * Tyroola have Bridgestone D840 for $696/set fitted as well, which KTAS will also beat, or Jax have D697 (All terrain tyre) for $210 each (call or request a quote your local Bridgestone Select via their website - their prices are usually $10-15/tyre cheaper than Jax).

And especially as AT tyres are already compromised on the road in order to be somewhat suitable for off road.

Have a look at Hankook Dynapro ATs. Been loving mine.

  • Thanks for the comments and advice.

I ended up going with Dunlop Grandrek AT22, which I currently have, as there is a 4 for 3 sale at Beaurepaires plus 7% cashback at cashRewards.

Per tyre price ended up at $178.

Glad I could help - and thanks to you for telling me that Beaurepaires has an online store!

Not a bad choice. Dunlop Grandrek AT22 are standard on FJ Cruisers and pretty capable off road. Not bad on road with wind noise either. Happy middle ground.

Im on my second set of Federal Couragia AT 275/65/17 and they were about 150 each on ebay including delivery plus 10 each to fit at my local tyre shop. They are in the price range you speak of, and are actually a reputable brand. Federal are very well known for their RSR racing tyre and are bigger overseas than in Australia. I have used the tyre for multiple offroad trips including the Victorian High Country (in summer) so the tracks were very dry - but I didnt have a single issue. You should consider them especially as you are spending around that much for an unknown brand.
