General Questions about Buying a New TV

Hi there,

I’m looking to buy a new TV and am thinking of buying the Samsung 65” NU8500 from videopro ebay special for $2k delivered.

I’ve got a few general questions:

  1. I mainly watch TV in bed and my TV is placed right in front of my bed. Should I get curved or flat? The price difference is $50 so I’m thinking of getting the flat for more immersion as I’m laying down front on.

  2. Warranties and such… is purchasing from the eBay Video Pro store mean I may have more issues in terms of warranty as opposed to dealing with a store like JB Hi-Fi for example? If I go for warranty with Video Pro instead of manufacturer.

  3. Would it be recommended to purchase the extended warranty? I always have in the past however reading about Australian consumer rights large companies are generally good at covering broken tvs that are technically out of warranty if the fault is not caused by the buyer. I even read one forum post about a Samsung tech saying that there’s a 5 year statutory warranty where they will fix the product.

  4. And just a random question about streaming Netflix 4K… do you think I could get away with a 12mbps connection? If not I’m considering how worth it it will be upgrading from a decent 1080p 55 inch Bravia.

Cheers!

You've been in your dentist's bed?

      • Who hasn't ?

        • Did your dentist give you a filling or a Root canal?

    1. get curved since you're so close, unless you like moving your hear and eyeballs a lot.

    2. yes since they only have storefronts in qld. organising pick up etc might be a pain.

    3. i wouldnt bother with extended warranty

    4. minimum 25mbps for 4k streaming
