Discussion on The Mercedes Deal That Was Just Deleted by a Mod

This was not my deal and I know it was not a deal for everyone but I'm flabbergasted that a moderator just decided it was a "joke" (official reason) on a whim and deleted it.

Thoughts and comments? Any moderator want to face up and explain? You can't delete a post just because you don't like it.

It was pretty clear that it was a joke post, the title of the deal wasn't about the car, it was a reference to the $10m other cars, hence being a joke. If the OP wanted to make it a real deal, they would have put the actual price and actual link.

    • The deal was "Mercedes CLA Coupe for Only under $53,000"

Yes it was cute that some other models were incorrectly listed.

      • You missed, "In comparison to other cars".

        • You said

the title of the deal wasn't about the car

        • @JVs tattered socks:

If the deal was actually about that car, the OP would have put the actual price, not "only under".

I fixed the deal to what it should have been, but the moderator deleted it.

    • Yep, that one was arguably a joke and moved to forums, fair enough. This one is hitlermod.

Riffing on my comment in the deal that was deleted by a mod that didn't like it:

A $50k Mercedes is deemed a "joke post" for being too expensive while people drive around in a $60k Prado without thinking twice.

As repeated in every $1000 headphone post, this is not OzPoverty.

The Prado won’t cost them a fortune in repairs or maintenance, so technically it is cheaper.

  • Where is this $53k CLA?

  • How was it a bargain though? It wasn't on sale.

Deal post also pointed to a specific dealer, not MB Australia.

All the up-votes were the usual ones just doing it as a joke, they weren't because it was a deal as such.

And really, aren't there worse things to worry about? Over the last week I've caught out at least a handful of deals that were blatantly sockpuppeting, and my reports had them deleted and banned.

  • Hell if I was a mod I'd be chatting to the rest of the team about your username - having something which targets another member shouldn't be allowed.

As I said, there's bigger things to worry about than a joke post.

  • I am closing this thread as "pointless". Here's what happened. All time are in AEST:

    • 9:11AM — someone posted a deal titled "Mercedes CLA Coupe for Only under $53,000 as Compared to Other Models" linking to a page where the majority of the Mercs are listed as "$10,000,000,000.00" (including an A-series). Deal received 3 reports within 1/2 hour with reasons such as "joke post" and "spam".
    • 9:45AM — doweyy changed the title & the link to point to CLA Coupé page.
    • 9:46AM — a moderator responded the reports by unpublishing the deal as "joke post", which is correct considering the only content in the deal post was:

Grab yourself a bargain by picking the the cla coupe when compared to other makes

    • 9:58AM — you created a TWAM questioning why moderators deleted the deal on a whim.

    • 10:02AM — you created this thread under General Discussion to vent about the moderation.

Due to this public post, the moderators now refuse to reply your TWAM and deal with you. I am only replying here because of there are now 2 reports on this post. However as I have now listed out the sequence of event and the reason why that Mercedes "deal" was unpublished, consider this forum post "answered".
