Sony 75" Z9F releases Oct, when will prices drop?

Hi all,

I've been holding out on buying a new TV, mainly because TVs have typically had some technical area that is quite bad - or not quite good enough.

I'm very much hoping that the Sony Z9F to be released in October will fit the bill, certainly seems to have reduced the viewing angle deficiency of the 900F.

Now the price on the Sony Australia website is $7,999 and that's fine, but I was wondering when I should expect to see price drops. E.g. Black Friday in November, maybe Boxing Day sales etc, or is it unlikely until Easter or thereabouts etc?

Has anyone noticed any trends on what typically happens?

First in with Crystal ball comment.

    • I don't mind crystal ball comments, so long as they are based upon historical trends. Not too different from share trading. :)

When the Sony Z10F or Sony Z9G releases, there will be a price drop. Somewhere between 2019 and 2022

      Thanks Capt'n obvious.

I'll try to be a little clearer of what I'm asking.

Historically, has anyone noticed whether price drops on newly released TVs have occurred shortly after product release during events such as Black Friday in November or Boxing Day sales?

Not sure if I am aware of trends specific to new Sony TVs but typically most companies won't drop prices of their stocks the year they are released (as a general principle) unless they are under selling and not meeting their sales targets. However, often independent businesses which sell their products will have sales from time to time - like you said with boxing day sales and such in which case it's a case by case basis for the company. Again, typically a business is much more likely to discount the older generation item but occasionally they may have a store wide sale of 10% or so.

    • this. You're better off looking up the general principles that all companies follow based on their stock. You are also a great example of the customer businesses want for their product, manipulated by price, compelled and fixed to their product, and timed to make a purchase between the release of two products.

  • Year after year, I find the biggest sony deals are from the sony kiosks on boxing day. I have bought most of my tvs on that day and always the cheapest. This year I couldn't wait and got the recent 75 inch $3999 deal. But boxing day is your best bet.
