Culture Kings Return Policy

After returning some goods I got on sale, just received an e-mail saying I would only be given a gift card? It was a pair of shoes I returned immediately after trying them on and they were the wrong size.

Can anyone elaborate what my rights are in this situation? My gut instinct is that I feel somewhat cheated, but I am completely open to being educated.

What's their returns policy? There's no legal right to return goods for a (money/cash) refund for change of mind, so it completely depends on what their returns policy is.

Actually, if you just google "Culture Kings Return Policy", right on that results page it says:

You will be able to return any full priced items in store for a store credit or exchange within 30 days of purchase date.

Seems pretty straight forward to me.

    • SALE OR PROMOTIONAL STOCK
      ● All SALE items are final and cannot be returned, exchanged or refunded. Bundles purchased are considered as sale items
      ● If you claim a free gift with your order and return your items for a refund, the free gift must also be returned. If you return your items for store credit or an exchange, you are more than welcome to keep your free gift

Yeah looks like I've made a huge mistake here assuming they operate similar to other websites! I should have been more careful. Is there no recourse for the situation?

      • No recourse. Only goodwill.

      • Oh, they're already being nice in allowing you to return it for credit at all - according to this you should've been stuck with them.

Ask nicerly? Don't get your hopes up though. You could try selling the gift card, I think the shop is pretty popular in certain circles.

  • Businesses don’t have to give you a refund if you:

    • change your mind
    • buy the wrong size
    • buy the wrong colour
    • Ah okay. Thanks for clearing that up. Lesson for next time.

  • Thanks for the affirmation guys. I'll try to send them an e-mail and hope for the best. If nothing comes of it, I'll consider reselling on gumtree.

  • return the item, get the gift card, and then sell the gift card.. i think you'll get more compared to selling the item

    • Do you know where and how I can sell the gift card effectively? Seems like a lot of trust would be involved in this transaction.

      • Just sell on gumtree or Facebook.. or if the other person is worried, go with them to a store and do it

        Or sell on here

      • What value is the gift card? Selling one might net you a moderate loss, whereas some items sold by Culture Kings hold their value really well. For example, a Champion Reverse Weave hoodie retails for $100 and easily sells for $90 privately (not sure why, but people cough up for them).

  • Why not just ask for the same shoes in a different size?

    • No stock available for them. I used my usual sizing but these shoes fit abnormally.

  • Merged from Culture Kings Return Policy?

I bought some trousers from Culture Kings and haven't opened the bag yet. Maybe it's the wrong size idk just yet, but I've just looked at their return policy and it says:

If you have purchased an item and you are not happy with the item (wrong size, wrong colour etc) you may exchange the item or obtain a store credit within 30 days of purchase. Goods that have been worn will not be accepted for change of mind.

Never mind that ACCC says: "Refunds should be the same amount you have already paid, provided in the same form as your original payment", how TF am I meant to know its the wrong size if I haven't opened and worn it?

EDIT: nvm they don't let you return items bought on sale anyway!

    • Never mind that ACCC says: "Refunds should be the same amount you have already paid, provided in the same form as your original payment"

Where’s the rest of that paragraph? ACCC doesn’t specify any requirements for change-of-mind refunds (like in your case). In fact there’s no legal requirements to offer change-of-mind refunds.
Yes, your case is a change-of-mind refund, it’s up to you, not the retailors, to select the correct sizes. That’s why peope try on clothes and shoes rather than making a blind purchase.
