Upgrade Apple Earphones from Warranty

Hi Everyone,

Just wondered if anyone has done this before.

I have some apple earphones which came with my iPhone. Right not they have stopped working as I can only get sound out of one ear. The good thing is they are still under warranty but was wondering if it was possible to instead of having them replaced pay the difference to upgrade to the wireless earbuds. Has anyone attempted this before?

Note: I purchased this from JBHIFI.

No… But good luck attempting it

You can ask but I doubt they would let you. Most likely the replacement you get will be brand new. Chuck that on eBay and buy new wireless ones off OZB when a deal is posted. You might actually end up paying less this way.

Doubt it, and if you tell that story they'll probably think you broke them on purpose just to upgrade.

The replacement just gets charged back to the manufacturer

They even have issues changing colour for warranty replacements. I think like others say just to sell

  • Nope. No chance.

  • You'd be reasonably hard pressed to get a refund at all, in some instances, since it is rare that simple earbuds like these just fail on their own - it's almost always a result of user damage (bending of the cable at the connector, pulling the cable to remove it instead of pulling on the connector, etc). But, in the event of a replacement, people are correct in saying that you'll just get a replacement.
